Here is the original draft federal indictment of Jeffrey Epstein for sex trafficking that was prepared by federal prosecutors in 2007, but ultimately tossed aside by Alex Acosta's office to allow Epstein to plea to a much lesser state charge.

This email between Epstein and JD Vance’s tech oligarch benefactor Peter Thiel where they plan to “collapse” society to create investment opportunities for themselves seems… not great

(They also met with the UN ambassador to Russia together)

More attention here, please.
Floored by this story. A man wrote a pollite email to a federal prosecutor objecting to the deportation of an Afghan seeking asylum. DHS responded with an administrative warrant to get the man's info from Google, then visited his home to intimidate him.

Her testimony is everything and it deserves to be heard, by everyone. Decide for yourself.

It’s powerful. It’s gut-wrenching. And no one should have to survive what she did.

At least the Nazis went to the trouble of passing the Nuremberg Laws and making the brutality and totalitarianism street legal. The gutlessness of the American run at fascism is that they want to do it simply by pretending the Bill of Rights never existed or meant anything.
Rep. Mark Harris: "Some of these things are nonstarters. Having judicial warrants? To me, hat's a nonstarter. Being able to make off their mask, putting them at risk? That's a nonstarter. I would say anything that's going to hamstring the work of ICE, that's just not going to go anywhere."

Abolish ICE.

There’s no reforming it.

There’s no compromise.

There’s only one way to rein in ICE’s terror campaign. Abolish it.

At the very heart of the conflict raging in the United States is a conflict about human nature, a deep moral and philosophical conflict. I believe the isolationists will lose in the long run because they are not only out of step with the majority but they are out of step with reality....

The phrase "professional activist" is functionally meaningless. It's a term that politicians and corporate targets have used for generations to discredit anyone who's effectively challenged them. Anyone who deploys it in earnest to discredit deeply committed people is broadcasting their ignorance.

"When in doubt, draw a distinction."

Not sure where he got it, but in grad school one of my teachers taught me that.

This (long) thread is about the key distinctions I rely on as a critic. There's a Twitter version from 2021. This one builds on that one.

I will post them one at a time. Ready?

I found the first investigative file from the first complainant against Epstein in 2005.

There are descriptions from the officer, over several interviews of the girl, of her pulling her knees up on the chair, drawing doodles, & the officer high-fiving her to keep her calm as she speaks of horror.

No need to imagine. The country incarcerates children as young as 9 years old daily in youth prisons and jails. Those children are routinely sexually and physically assaulted and also emotionally tortured. They are fed terrible food and given barely any education. This country has done this for yrs.

I know too much about what we do to incarcerated children in the U.S. I started and ran an organization focused on this for almost 15 years. Immigrant children are being treated terribly.

This week has been a lot. It’s overwhelming.

But what is in those files the DOJ released today is a scandal of monumental proportions. People fear that it is “too big to fail.” Maybe.
But Congress must act.

Yes! we need all the files. But what has been released is already a four-alarm fire.
