We live in one of the least-taxed, most unequal countries on Earth. It's unsurprising, but utterly shameless, for the Portland Metro Chamber to continue to pedal the fiction that Portland's businesses are especially tax burdened.

Dems coalescing around 5 restrictions on ICE, I'm told:

DHS required to cooperate with state probes (big)
CBP stays at border
warrants for arrests
IDs, bodycams
ICE out of churches, schools

"That package unites a lot of Dems," Sen Chris Murphy tells me on the pod:

Government’s most basic responsibility is to keep people safe. Therefore, I also call on every U.S. Senator to stand against fascist tyranny and block the DHS funding bill. Agencies like ICE or CBP that slaughter people in the streets should not receive another penny of funding.

“Vax and relax” was never an option for people with chronic illnesses. It was a huge betrayal when that became official policy and so many people followed it without consideration for the vulnerable people in their communities.

This week, these folks were at city hall causing chaos over a demand that can’t be met by the council, yelling at progressive councilors to “grow some balls” and waving cameras in faces hoping for a response while those same councilors were trying to stop the police from arresting them.

For clicks.
I want to go to the ICE protest but I *do not* trust anything those FRSO people are involved in.

The Senate must reject the bill that funds ICE. Both chambers must take up impeachment, conviction and removal proceedings for POTUS and any other office engaged in the killing and oppression of our communities. Abolish ICE and prosecute from root to branch every last one of them.

The idea that lethal force by p*lice & ICE agents alike is committed by "untrained" people is wild to me.

They are literally trained to see civilians as enemies. They seek training from mercenaries who commit genocide on their "home" territory.

So many of the impulses of traditional media and the people who run those institutions are not suited for the times we are living through right now. IDK what it takes to change that.
By who? Who shot the person dead? You saw the video. We all know a federal agent shot a man dead who was prone on the ground. Also, it's not "according to officials." It's according to verified video seen with your eyes. Not saying what anyone can obviously see with their eyes is a form of lying.

Pro tip: If you are attending a rally or action, wear a N95 mask & bring extras to give to others.

High quality masks can serve triple-duty: they prevent you and others from getting sick from airborne viruses, they keep your face warm in the freezing cold, & they can protect against surveillance.

'Why aren't they in the streets' is answered almost every day in my small town by people in the streets! Rather than asking 'why aren't they in the streets' it's worth asking 'why isn't your media showing them in the streets' and 'who is served by downplaying resistane in its myriad forms.'
The idea that there are no protests in the US and no one is standing up to Trump is proving incredibly hard to kill over here in Germany. It’s become dogma, utterly detached from empirical reality.

I wonder if the people who keep talking like that understand they’re perpetuating regime propaganda.
