Happy 3-year anniversary to Don't Play Defense #Art #Pride

Saw a lot of headlines saying "wikipedia is embracing ai" being tossed around tabloids, and I'm pretty sure they were maliciously written to make you feel a certain way about Wikipedia. What's actually happening is that wikipedia is demanding payment for data scraping and the corpos don't like that.

Sure. AI companies have ALWAYS been training their models on Wikipedia content, which under the free and open access model is available to anyone — including AI companies. Agreements like these require AI companies to limit and offset the strain they place on Wikimedia infrastructure.

I do understand: you want permission. There's a machine in the corner wrapped in human skin that makes things out of shit and blood to look like whatever you want (as long as you don't look too closely). You gave one to your teacher and they didn't notice. Your boss told you to use it after they laid off half the team and it was fine. You fed one to your kids and they liked it. You want to know you can use it sometimes without me thinking less of you. You don't need me to believe it's useful, you just want me to be polite about it. But I am a hater, and I will not be polite. The machine is disgusting and we should break it. The people who build it are vapid shit-eating cannibals glorifying ignorance. I strongly feel that this is an insult to life itself.

What It’s Like When Your Wife Goes on Testosterone She went on testosterone to help with her menopausal symptoms. The effects had unexpected consequences for their marriage. After years of a marriage that had little sex in it, Greg Carter had largely accepted that his wife no longer had any interest. The last thing he expected was that right around the time that they both were nearing 50, his wife would have a complete change of heart. “She was pouncing on me,” he said. His wife had recently started taking testosterone to manage her menopausal symptoms — at a dose so high that it brought her testosterone levels higher than is typical even for women in their 20s. The difference in her desire was almost immediate. “I had the experience of feeling like a teenage boy,” she told me. The shift vastly improved Greg’s own happiness, so much so that he sometimes felt pangs of regret about the years they spent together without a sex life. “I realized, later in life, all that we had missed out on,” he says.
