The Block The Bombs Act, which would legally suspend a large portion of American offensive military assistance to Israel, now has 60 cosponsors in the House of Representatives.

It is also endorsed by the Congressional Progressive Caucus, the first ever Israel-Palestine related bill to acquire it.

Nearly half of the journalists killed this year were murdered in Gaza by Israel.

Since the beginning of its genocide, Israel has killed more than 270 Palestinian journalists and media workers.

BREAKING: The House of Representatives just passed a bill that would subject immigrant children to invasive bodily searches and keep them in detention instead of releasing them to their families.

The Senate must vote no on this horrific bill.

We spoke to a dozen professional concept artists who are currently or have previously worked in game development about whether generative AI image tools have made their jobs any easier.

Zero said it did. Most said it made things harder.

Concept Artists Say Generative AI References Only Make Their Jobs Harder
“The ‘early ideation stages’, when worlds are being fleshed out by writers and artists, are literally crucial to the development of a game’s vision,” said one artist.

Y'all gonna start acknowledging the parallels yet?

Y'all gonna start defending art, intimacy, and sex as basic human expressions?

Y'all gonna start realizing that these deranged puritans don't have an ounce of goodwill in their bodies and literally just want to control every aspect of our lives?

Using gen ai for text and asset placeholders is not solving a problem; games have been made for decades with regular placeholders. studios using AI this way are just testing the water to see what more they can get away with - which will inevitably mean laying off skilled workers, to make worse games

Tomorrow, the House of Representatives will vote on a bill that bans gender-affirming medical care for any transgender person under 18, and threatens any medical professional providing this care to youth with 10 years in prison.

Tell Congress to protect trans youth and vote NO.
Protect Trans Care Now
As wave after wave of extreme measures to criminalize and strip trans people of rights and safety continue, tell Congress to act.

the enthusiasm for generative AI would not have been possible without prior decades of capitalist conditioning to view works of art as products, rather than acts of culture and shared human life
I think the fundamental gap here is that non-creative people think that creative people make things for the end product, when in fact it’s the act of creation and not the end point that makes it worthwhile.
I have grown to believe that excessive wealth does something to your brain that is analogous to a serious head injury

This is a trolley problem where one side has you slap a disclosure on your game's store page that says "Made with real asbestos!", which customers famously love, and the other side does not

I don't think we really need to discuss the flavor of the asbestos
One thing to add to this good piece, for the games example in particular: it is hard to justify the existing practice of labelling games "made with" AI and not count people using AI to write code in that definition www.ft.com/content/bab5...
Is the ‘Made by AI’ label pointless?
The experience of the video game industry suggests transparency about AI use won’t be straightforward

Follow up on last repost. Those with money and power want to kill empathy so consumers no longer value the time and effort invested to deliver a message. So you won't care about the medium or the speaker, only the message. Then they can feed you any message they want to any way they want to.
