“One in 11 Virginians receive SNAP”

“Just a 10% cut in SNAP could double the impact on food banks”

I do not understand how these changes are going to be anything other than an unmitigated disaster.

This is missing the bigger, more crucial point:

CITIZENS ARE NOT REQUIRED TO CARRY PAPERS (or even have Real ID).
A reminder that most Americans who are life-long citizens have nothing OTHER than a Real ID to prove their citizenship. This is CBP’s chief enforcer saying that ID doesn’t count.
Bovino, the man overseeing mass deportations, publicly declared that we must all have our papers on us, at all times, or we could be stopped, harassed, kidnapped, and detained, as they did with the man in this case, who is a US citizen.

Literally one of the first things I remember learning about American “exceptionalism” is the fact we cannot be required to carry / provide “papers”.

Remember how just a few years ago during the worst of the pandemic when we saw how the govt can actually do big things and saw that our collective health & well-being are intertwined, and then corporations got mad that they lost a modicum of power and helped fund a backlash of amnesia and fascism?

And I love them rolling this out immediately before Christmas.
Confidence!
Beginning Tuesday, December 16, you'll need to create an online account for your car to park in the Market Street and Water Street garages on the Downtown Mall.

Libraries are so amazing that I‘d half expect the only library chainsaw news to be the addition of a chainsaw library.
I’ve worked in public libraries for 20 years, today was the first time we’ve had to tell someone they couldn’t bring their chainsaw in the library.

I'm far more comfortable with an artisanal targeted murderer than I am with a stochastic serial killer who does it by depraved indifference with a spreadsheet. I can avoid being targeted by the assassin.

My mind has been becoming more and more comfortably set on no incumbents no how, but I think I could get behind this. Please do let me know your thoughts.

& also I really hope this doesn't stop anyone from throwing their hats in the ring, because I am certainly open to better newer shinier options!
I’m running for Congress in Virginia’s 5th District because families and workers deserve a fair shot. Costs keep rising while salaries aren’t - and MAGA Republicans are cutting food & health care to fund corporate tax breaks instead of defending Virginia’s families.

As may likely become a familiar refrain from me as I repost most anyone challenging any incumbent: I know nothing about this candidate.
My friend @drannieandrews.com will be Lindsey Graham's opponent.

This is the most accurate description of IAD's "people movers".
The first time I rode in one of these I thought we were in a room waiting for the bus. Turns out it WAS the bus.
A Trump nominee to the advisory board overseeing Dulles International Airport plans to push for an end to its signature “people movers,” saying the shuttles that drew headlines this week for a crash that hospitalized 18 people are outdated and dangerous.

@nytimes.com

Excuse me while I really enjoy the continued avoidance of simply calling the “bus-like vehicle” what they are actually called: “people movers”.

Also, I can confirm IAD does not in fact transport airports.

(Note for future stories: that other airport is simply “National”.)
OMG they’ve already rewritten the headline and subhead 🤣

Did @kaine.senate.gov really repeatedly use the phrase “moratorium on mischief”?

Does he even understand words?

This soft-pedaling gentlemanship needs to right go out of style, and further entrenches my current “disappointment”.
