QTing to break the chain, since the guy I replied to seems to be taking things personally.

I don’t think Kennedy and bush are similar in this regard at all. Kennedy was a secular president with a secular administration, personal faith aside. I don’t think that’s what either of us were talking abt
I think it's simply an artifact of rancid evangelicalism. As a matter of fact, I believe there was a significant rise in American Catholic observance in the years following Kennedy's presidency.

Illegal Immigrants? Don't you mean Future Americans?
This is also why semantics are important in politics and the idea they should be dismissed as immaterial is at best wrongheaded imo
Also most voters have just never thought remotely seriously about policy. “Should we get rid of illegal immigrants? Well, of course; they’re illegal!” There’s nothing deeper than that going on until they start seeing what that actually entails.

"Kevin Roberts, the president of the Heritage Foundation, apologized for not knowing anything and fucking up the most basic expectations of his position."
Kevin Roberts, the president of the Heritage Foundation, faced blowback after defending Tucker Carlson's interview with a white nationalist. He later apologized and said he erred out of ignorance, because he did not keep up with the news and had simply read an aide’s script.
In Explaining His Gaffe, Heritage Foundation Leader Pleads Ignorance
Kevin Roberts, under fire for defending Tucker Carlson’s interview with a white nationalist, said that he did not keep up with the news and that he had simply read an aide’s script.

Even better if they’re southerners who fought for the union cause

Especially if they’re not generals, imo
Saying it while posting Union generals ought to get the right message across IMO, unironically
man we need a way to say "the moral rot and depravity of this country's elite must be burned out of it with cleansing fire" that isn't wildly reactionary-coded

”Look at this perfect puddle. It fits into the hole just perfectly!”
I think the question "is Trump a good politician?" is genuinely a complicated one. He is extremely good at running for office in the United States as is, slotting into deep-rooted material and cultural dysfunctions that other politicians who are less sociopathic were loath to prod so directly.

Hell yeah, this government efficiency thing is off the charts
Speaker Johnson is officially keeping the House in recess again next week. This will be the eighth consecutive week the House has been out of session. The chamber hasn't met since Sept. 19. Adelita Grijalva, who was elected on Sept. 23, has not been sworn in.

Can you believe the new mayor won't even give me the time of day? Me? A rich guy who sucks?
Canadian multimillionaire and Shark Tank guy Kevin O'Leary went on TV to say he's upset Zohran won't talk to him: "I and others who invest in real estate have tried to get a meeting to figure out what's rhetoric and what's policy. So far for me it's been crickets."

Penny wise, pound foolish. The amount we spent on helping stave off poverty, oppression, and famine was a pittance compared to having to manage a refugee crisis.

You need to pay higher taxes babe
I dunno. I do like our government spending less money anywhere they can. I like even more if my taxes go down as a result. Since when is our job to be the world’s mom and dad? Did other countries step up to fill that gap?

Watching Hank Greene interview of Nate Soares and man there’s so much bullshit in here. Soares seems to assume that using language is the same as understanding language, and his whole theory of artificial mind seems to be based on this.

Genuinely surprising how credulous Hank seems to be in this.
