The most significant unwritten law in America is that calling someone racist is worse than any racism.

I think of that when BOAN defenders slither into my mentions.

(Yes, they are on Bluesky. Some of BOAN’s biggest defenders are big city liberals ”without a racist bone, black, white, purple, etc”)

It brought on violence, gave the Klan mainstream cachet and has stolen laurels from dozens of earlier pioneers (who, coincidentally, were also not pushing white nationalist talking points).

It's been a festering pustule for so long that people are afraid to excise it. I'm not afraid.

I don't expect moral perfection from either films or filmmakers. But BIRTH OF A NATION is a singularly evil film that has hidden behind claims of artistic innovation-- which Thomas Dixon (the novel's author) admitted were constructed to get the film before white Northern audiences. It's a trap!

But, again, they are trying to muddy the waters by putting A KKK RECRUITMENT FILM in the same category as, say, a silent movie with an offensive joke.

This all-or-nothing approach is essentially taking all of cinema hostage to protect, say it with me, A KKK RECRUITMENT FILM!

For most of the people I know the huge difference between physical stores and streaming platforms is that small physical stores rely on heavy users and treat them well, for streaming platforms one subscription is as profitable as the next

I find the 'the Democrats won't do anything' doomer line annoying, because the Democrats will be who you make them - look how much the GOP changed over the past decade!

Right now the party feels immovable but the moment it has a presidential nominee, it will be whatever that person is.

To give you an idea of how "AI" has fucked up the holiday season, their insane demand for RAM chips that's barely even being used has caused a production drought for every other application.

Meaning right now you can buy a cheap PC, yank the RAM, and sell it on eBay for twice what the PC costs.

I'm getting close to the finish line, but also only have a few days left.

Please help out if you're able. Even just a few bucks can make a big difference. And it all means a whole lot to me, particularly right now.

Thank you. <3
Starting to put out requests for rent help.

This month is almost certainly gonna be a REALLY bad one, I’m a bit terrified, and any early help would mean the absolute world to me, seriously.

Thank you, and lots of love and gratitude.
I make very little dollary doos and live in a very expensive city. If I’ve ever made you laugh or think and you can spare a few dollars, please consider tipping!

DUCK SOUP was thought lost for decades and historians surmised that Ollie had a small role, given his parts in films released immediately after. So, it was quite a surprise when it turned out that DUCK SOUP was a true Laurel & Hardy picture.

I used to literally livetweet Apple announcements. At this point, there’s nothing that makes me say “oooh” anymore and I love gadgets. I absolutely love them.

The main thing I want is a gadget that does what I want it to do for 15 years.

Also, my next phone, which I won't buy until this one breaks for good, will be much cheaper, much slower and do much less.
My phone is doing all the same things from 2015 with only minimal benefits. The only reason we have to upgrade is increased software bloat.

We should actually just have phones that last 15 years now.

I guess I had over a thousand different people all telling me the same thing and only one telling me different.

So I gathered all of the responses together and ran some statistical analysis and discovered that the most likely answer was "the car is broken, replace it".

But then a different man on the street, who also knows nothing about cars, said "you don't have any chance to fix it, get a new car".

I figured I should broaden my search so I asked a Facebook group for "people who aren't mechanics" and they all said, in different words, how broken the car is.

I figured I should get another option and asked the neighbour on the other side who said "it's fucked, mate, ditch it and get a new car".

I then asked the guy opposite and he said, as a mechanic, it's a quick, 5 minute fix, and he'd do it for free.

I'm also really done with being accused of not writing my own words because I use en dashes. En dashes and em dashes have been around since looooooong before LLMs and some of us like to punctuate properly! They're not some 'gotcha' that we didn't type the words, I did!

I'm going insane because people constantly recommend using AI for things and it is always, ALWAYS worse than repeatedly bashing my head on a brick.

It's like you have an actual problem & all anyone recommends is "have you tried talking to my cousin? He drinks bleach & doesn't wash his pants"

So turns out in the UK, it’s only a crime to sexually harass a child over the course of several weeks if she’s NOT transgender. Live and learn.
Father Ted co-creator Graham Linehan has been cleared of harassing a transgender activist, but was found guilty of criminal damage to her mobile phone.

THIS

It saves a tremendous amount of overhead (money) and time (money) and complications (people who are eligible dropping out because they can't prove they are), but mostly it forecloses an extremely common form of fiscal parental abuse.
Periodically I see people justifying means-testing to ensure The Rich don't get stuff for free when they can afford it.

I see the logic, but we can just tax them more.

Plus, the BIGGEST thing not means-testing solves is

*deep breath*

IT STOPS RICH PEOPLE FINANCIALLY-ABUSING THEIR KIDS ANYMORE.
