I love when Andy Ngo does one of his David Attenborough-style posts about Antifa and highlights some kid who took a bong rip and waddled into the protest dressed like a giant muppet.

My favorite flavor of his commentary by far.
Andy Ngo wants to draw your attention to Barney the dinosaur

Shout out to the two guys hanging out by the station every day drinking a single serve bottle of red and having a smoke.

A lesson for us all.

It’s wild to me how low-stakes syllabus decisions can have such large, long-term impacts.

Read Lee Clarke’s “Acceptable Risk in an undergrad sociology of orgs class. It basically shaped what I’ve done and how I’ve understood the world for the next 30-ish years.

Absolutely love reading papers on stuff I was obsessed with during my PhD (some 25 years ago). Maybe I was ahead of my time (chokes laughing)

Tron gives an inaccurate impression of how many guys live in your computer. It makes it seem like thousands of guys are in there. In reality only about 10 guys live in your computer and less than half of them ride motorcycles

NOTICE OF STORE CLOSURE
To Our Valued Customers,
This Claire's location has been permanently closed. The decision reflects both external pressures & internal restructuring. In recent months, repeated attacks of ridicule by radical left agitators have gone beyond mere criticism, escalating into a deliberate effort to destabilize our company - conduct we recognize as Domestic Economic Terrorism.
At the same time, our transition under new private equity ownership required difficult financial choices. Protecting the stability of shareholders was prioritized, & this store - along with its local workforce - was deemed expendable in service of that obligation.
Despite these challenges, Claire's remains committed to our identity as a traditional American company rooted in values of family & community.
We will not be silenced by those who attempt to undermine that mission, & we continue to move forward with confidence in our future.
Here at Claire's, we look forward to working with the current administration to reinvigorate our brand presence across the United States, ensuring that we remain a part of American life for generations to come.
We invite you to continue supporting Claire's by shopping online at www.claires.com
Thank you for your attention to this matter.

This is great. Cory D nails the business model in all its dismal detail. He had consistently been excellent doing a job, that let's be honest, professors in business schools should have done.

This is so good from Cory Doctorow on all the tricks Amazon uses to get both consumers to pay more, and how businesses on the platform end up paying it 45-51 cents on every dollar.

Plus he rightly calls for regulatory change, not just individual consumer action

How about this suggestion for Dem framing:

GOP: Give us a continuing resolution to keep the government open

Dems: We're not going to give this lawless president a blank check (and specify conditions)

Being a columnist is so cool. You can have absolutely no experience whatsoever and still drop whatever takes you want. Serve in the military? No? Work in natsec? No? Have an academic background in defense? No? Have any government experience at all? No?

Who cares! Fire that column off anyways!

Some fun classic readings for the weekend - the Procedure Fetish by Bagley.

TLDR: Our obsession with procedure as a cure-all is misplaced and probably counterproductive.

Seeing how @sbworkersunited.org seamlessly connects right-wing culture-warring to workplace safety & the need for a fighting American labor movement like this underscores just how poorly most incumbent unions have met this moment despite having more $ and influence: www.fingers.email/upgrade?offe...
A Starbucks store was targeted in a viral video that got millions of views after workers didn’t write 'Charlie Kirk' on a cup, in line with Starbucks' cup-writing policies.

What followed was terrifying: baristas at the Yucaipa & 6th store faced threats, their personal information was leaked online, and instead of protecting them, Starbucks leadership lied about its own cup-writing policy to Fox News. Starbucks threw baristas under the bus for following its own rules.

Now, partners at Yucaipa & 6th just filed to unionize. They’re standing up for safety, community, and each other. And they need you with them! Celebrate Yucaipa partners taking this bold step. Congratulate them with a like and comment to show you are by their side.
