Via "One First," my quick write-up of President Trump's "Presidential Memorandum" purporting to federalize 2000 California National Guard troops; the relevant legal authorities for doing so; and how the move is both a modest *and* dangerous escalation of what's going on in and around Los Angeles:
156. Federalizing the California National Guard
President Trump's Saturday night "memorandum" federalizing 2000 California National Guard troops is a tentative step toward abusing authorities for domestic use of the military, but a dangerous one.

Tell them no.
The federal government is moving to take over the California National Guard and deploy 2,000 soldiers.

That move is purposefully inflammatory and will only escalate tensions.

FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS to oppose the Trump administration...there is a strategy worth pursuing, one familiar to underdogs the world over: Push the aggressor beyond their limits.

Judge Wilkinson is an appointee of Ronald Reagan and has been on the shortlist for previous Republican presidents for nominations to #scotus.

This is as emphatic of a warning it gets for everyone and a notice for Roberts SCOTUS.
INCREDIBLE opinion by Wilkinson refusing to stay Judge Xinis's orders in the Abrego Garcia case, condemning DOJ's arguments as "shocking not only to judges, but to the intuitive sense of liberty that Americans far removed from courthouses still hold dear."

Every now and then it hits me that this isn’t just about 1 inhuman act or another, but a bigger picture.

That the entire democratic experiment in America is falling apart in front of our eyes. It’s historic in that sense. Which then makes me wonder why all media stories aren’t framed this way.

I don’t know what I found more disturbing here: The criticism of legitimate scholarship relating to judge shopping, or the response to the question from 97-year-old currently suspended Federal Circuit Judge Pauline Newman, who was told her removal was suspect and that “it could happen to any of us.”
The fundamental lie of the Federalist Society is “we’re not extremists, we’re just a group that can have open discussions about controversial topics.” But Judges Jones and Ho, continuing in the tradition of Justice Alito, demonstrated that’s not true. /1

This is the game: Jews complain about antisemitism on a social media site. If no one cares, the bigotry persists. If decent people try to curb it, the bigot points to the attempt to rebut them as proof that there is a Jewish conspiracy. Heads the antisemites win, tails Jews lose.
