New research presents a data common named the "Neurolipid Atlas" - a useful resource prepopulated with isogenic iPS cell-derived lipidomics data for different brain conditions ( #Alzheimers, #Parkinsons, #ALS, #FTD)

Our main conclusions:

➡️ Lipids are changes in multiple brain diseases
➡️ In Alzheimer and ApoE4 astrocytes triglycerides and cholesteryl esters accumulate

And, most surprising:
➡️ Altered cholesterol storage in ApoE4 astrocytes suppresses their HLA-immune function

a characterization of APOE effects on the lipid droplet-ome (turns out you see a lot of "AD-related" proteins!)

Since everyone else is doing it… Here’s a starter pack for researchers studying the most interesting allele in AD. go.bsky.app/PDtaUP6 Let me know if you want to be added (doesn’t have to be the sole focus of your research). Also, it turns out a lot of my favorite APOE4 folks aren’t on bluesky yet.

I also made a starters pack for all Riks working on Tau.

Are you a Rik that works on Tau? Comment below and I will add you.

This spring, we reported in Nature a therapeutic approach for Timothy syndrome

This has been a long journey starting with making hiPS cell-derived neurons in 2D cultured 15 years ago when I was a postdoc & continued with creating in the lab #organoid and then #assembloid models of this disease
