None of the War Powers Act's qualifications were met: "a national emergency created by attack upon the United States, its territories or possessions, or its armed forces". Additionally, the War Powers Act doesn't give the president the authority to kidnap another country's president & first lady.

All of the increasingly bellicose rhetoric from an ever-widening array of admin officials makes it feel like they realize this was not the test case they wanted for this policy and are worried the removal plans and any public support for them could crumble very easily.

This is a catastrophe not only for the commuters and economy of Philadelphia, but for the hundreds of thousands of tourists that are expected to visit in 2026 for the World Cup, the MLB All-Star Game, and the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Impossible to underestimate what a disaster this would be.
