It would be political malpractice for Labour to vote for this because of bipartisanship right after National tore up a bipartisan climate agreement.

Labour has leverage: Luxon desperately wants this, and NZF won't play ball. Restoring the climate agreement would be a good price for Labour votes...
Labour won't say if it'll back India free trade deal, says it's a 'good step forward'
However, the opposition party isn't saying whether it will back the deal if and when it is introduced to Parliament.

You know what - I think I get why good hearted people are disillusioned and tapped out of politics.

Because when you're not part of a marginalised group, largely unaffected by this govts policies, then you can willingly step away from politics and focus on the good stuff in your life.

Feeling all the aroha and manaakitanga here in Dunedin for the #BHN Xmas party.

@patbrittenden.bsky.social commissioned these stunning awards. Made from native timber and pāua inlay.

I knew we won the people's choice but now it's really real.

$8m in public funds spent.

12,000+ financial sanctions were applied since September.

12 people were given non-financial sanctions in the past 6 months.

Austerity doesn't get the youth into work.

Austerity is a moral, systematic failure.

@chrishipkins.bsky.social Biden and Starmer both ran and then governed on "returning to normalsy" after chaotic right wing predecessor governments and it lead to Trump getting back in and Nigel Farage looking poised to become the next UK PM...
Please don't make the same mistake!
Now, I freely admit that I am probably not labours target demo, but if their answer to a single term of the fastest dismantling of progress we have ever seen in this country is; "steady now, we cant move too quickly, cant fix everything, temper your expectations"

I am not confident

Cool to see Craig running but idk why he's targetting Julie Ann Genter's electorate, surely it would have made more sense to run someone like Hutt South...
First Dr Gary Payinda now "high-profile economist Craig Renney to run as its candidate in Wellington Bays in next year's election.".
Not surprising at all Craig Renney is running for Labour but surprised that Labour is announcing new progressive candidates this early before the election.

My MP, what an asshole
James Meager is a real piece of shit.

He was mendacious about TPB submissions (as chair of that Select Committee he tried to dump hundreds of thousands of submissions and then lied about it).

Now he wants to dump one of the only ways for the public to weigh in.
National proposes gagging the public, to prevent "record number of submissions; 98% opposed" headlines.

This party opposes democracy. newsroom.co.nz/2025/10/23/t...
