Republicans sincerely believe their very way of life is under threat. And they should, because its evil, economically non-viable, and we are coming to kill it.
Addison highlights these types of comments from American conservatives, and I’ve seen this all the time and always think it’s especially deranged. America has the lowest density, most “single-family” housing stock of basically any modern nation and it’s still not enough for these people!

The "hard men create good times" meme is true in the sense that the hard men were all from the WWII generation and the weak men include the world's richest man who wants to artificially impregnate every women he sees and lie about how good he is at video games.
In a loose folksy way I’ve started to believe that shit falls apart approximately every 80 years because the generation that knew True Horror dies off and the young folks left don’t comprehend the stakes.
I blame the passing of the WW2 generation. Some people didn't have a grandparent who would kick their ass for talking up Nazis and it shows.

When the AI bubble pops, and the cascade of bad debt gets back to them, they'll beg Trump for a bailout and he'll waste precious hours demanding concessions and obeyances from these guys.
The tech barons' alliance with Trump is working out great for them so far; they've gotten almost everything they want from this administration. But they may come to regret becoming part of the MAGA coalition.
