This lovely metal die has been with me for years, and it's one of the few dice to make the cut as I got rid of excess dice. I used it as the initiative die in Mighty Ones, and @robheinsoo.bsky.social said it was off. I checked, and it is off. Hard to roll 5 or 6! Guess I won't be using it any more.

There's a massive anti-AI bot network that triggers any time there's a post with slight positive sentiment towards AI. If one of those bots attaches to your post, you're hosed.

It sucks and it makes any sort of normal, substantive AI discourse nearly impossible to exist here.
Deleted a post that was going viral and bringing an undesirable amount of attention from anonymous accounts. But, I'm going to be honest, the toxic folks here have won. So much of the usage of the site is about avoiding their attention. I'll just use this site to get book recs going forward

My county's public health dept put out their annual toilet rat PSA, which means that once again I'm just a girl, standing in front of my toilet, hoping that a rat appears in it.

TIL about a memorial ceremony in Iceland in 2019 to mark the end of a glacier, changing the place name from Okjökull to Ok (jökull = glacier). Uncompromising wording on the bronze plaque:
"This is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it".

Let's promote your friends and family who've done the difficult work of publishing books.
I just realized my (Seattle-based nonprofit) publisher has a sale on. I'm proud of the 2nd edition here--new science, new chapters on leafcutter bees and assorted solitary bee pests, and a bazillion new color photos. Lots of titles for outdoors topics of all kinds if pollinators aren't your jam.
Mason Bee Revolution, 2nd Edition: How the Hardest Working Bee Can Save the World One Backyard at a Time
Easily attract wild solitary bees to your yard--and help save the planet!
