I made these with lemon juice, elderflower liqueur, and bourbon (2:3:5 ratio), topped up with ginger beer and with quite a lot of angostura bitters. Nice, but not going to be one of our favourites.

A disorienting moment: Trump is consolidating autocratic power in areas where there's an easy path to do so. But in other areas he's facing deep institutional resistance and people are refusing to abandon the rule of law. Here he's weak and failing.

A cool bit: a drinking song from 1200s Germany lists all kinds of people who drink inside "society": notably not including Jews, but specifically including both white & black people.

It's a small thing that says that medieval euro society & imagination incorporated people originally from Africa.
