Jane and I began the new year getting our steps up in Aix-en-Provence and taking an evening stroll through the harbour town of Sanary in the south of France, a beautiful place that glows as night falls. Hope you’ve all had a great start to 2026

Next week could be brutal for Melbourne, with the potential for several hot days. Watch the BoM forecasts closely - official BoM forecast for next Wednesday 7 Jan is currently 39°C, but models tipping a bit higher at this early stage. Possibly hotter in days after.

I’m not scared, not even outside on the balcony. Harris in inside, but he’s doing fine too.

What a year. Like every year, there were highs and lows, and like every year, we celebrated the highs with family and music. That same music and my beautiful family helped me make it through any lows that came our way. Thank you all for sharing this life with us.

Good morning. Wishing you all a better New Year than the one just passed.

The old year is like the water: it remembers us briefly, then smooths itself out.
What mattered shaped us, what hurt made circles, but we are not meant to stay standing in it.

After visiting Bald Hill Beach on Sunday, we drove around some dry, dusty dirt roads. Found some groups of bluebonnet parrots. They are super skittish and getting photos was challenging - but I got this one resting in the shadows.
