Elon Musk’s X has been facing fresh heat from authorities across Europe after its Grok artificial intelligence system produced a string of nude deepfakes that included depictions of undressed minors.
Grok’s nudes test Europe’s resolve to stand up to US tech
Paris, London, Brussels and others take action to crack down on a flood of non-consensual pictures, but risk U.S. retaliation.

Meanwhile, MEP Billy Kelleher says the powers exist right now to temporarily suspend Grok while the Commission investigates.

"Our political leaders must grasp this issue once and for all. We have the power to act but it seems we don’t have the bravery to act."

Bizarre comments from the Minister who isn't committing to anything. It was supposed to start construction this year. We need firm commitments now, not vague statements designed to confuse people about what's happening.

There are real people, real women, real girls whose images have been edited by grok at the request of users.

This is not some fictionalised, nebulous harm.

That the 'adults in the room' and 'rules-based order' governments are humming and hawwing over taking a firm line on this is extraordinary

To give you some context about how bad this is, Zhipu made $27 million in revenue in the first 6 months of this year and had a net loss of $334 million. This means that Zhipu has less than a year before it runs out of money entirely

Please follow suit and stop supporting X (or the deepfake porn site formerly known as Twitter - to quote @financialtimes.com )
To be clear, we decided a month ago that we had to quit twitter.
It was going to be a slower process, but the platform being used to generate child sexual images, and sexual harassment images, meant we had to do it immediately.
In December, the Green Party Executive Committee agreed that the Party would move away from posting on X, a move that began in the New Year. @rodericogorman.bsky.social is no longer posting on the platform since the decision in December.

Comment & Analysis: Just before Christmas, a small number of disability campaigners told a joint Oireachtas meeting between the Committee on Disability Matters and the Committee on Transport of their dislike of continuous footpaths, and one mentioned raised crossings. It is worrying that such basic safety and mobility measures are being targeted. As covered in an explainer on continuous footpaths…

Design for 38 apartments in Paris, with a chunky brick and stone facade

Interesting plan as well, with just 3 homes serviced per core, meaning most apartments are dual aspect.

Imagine if your house was burgled and you had to pay €100,000 to bring the perpetrator to justice. Nobody would think this is right.

This is exactly what the state wants to do when it breaks the law relating to the environment.

If you think this is unfair or wrong then read on ⬇
Financial barriers to environmental litigation are against the law, because protecting the environment is an important public interest.

The government now wants to make it super expensive (>€100,000) for ordinary people to go to court to protect the environment

But as this is something I've heard repeated by officials at different levels of transport in Ireland, it's worth debunking the claim. It's worth saying that the Netherlands is not perfect (it's not even a "

No restructuring of the RSA
No automatic camera enforcement

-- 39 metros that allow bicycles at some times or on some lines allow bicycles to be carried for free. Transport authorities in Ireland have yet to decide whether bicycles will be allowed on the planned MetroLink between Dublin City Centre and Swords in North County Dublin, while in-depth research by IrishCycle.com has shown that a clear majority of metro systems across Europe allow bicycles on board, and a majority of those charge no fee.

Why are we bothering to publish such an obvious lie when we know it's a lie?

As the number of people killed on Irish roads creeps over the 190 mark, the Department of Transport has defended its Minister's record on road safety following stinging criticism from former minister Shane Ross at the weekend. Ross said that the current Minister for Transport, Darragh O’Brien, and Minister for State with responsibility for road safety, Seán Canney, have been accused of inaction.
