sometimes, I read a book that I think has phenomenal characterization and depth, and then I read reviews, and the negative ones generally follow two patterns:
1) I was listening to an audiobook and not paying attention so the story is bad
2) I loved the worldbuilding but didn't like the story

good is having a character with enough personality to give the player something to bounce off of (doomguy 2016 and no other, BJ in wolfenstein:tno), but not too little as to give them nothing, and not so much the player feel like the worst backseat driver in the world is telling them how to play

In a short 400 years we went from knowing we were the center of the universe to knowing that we are just one planet in one of billions of solar systems in our galaxy and our galaxy is one of billions of galaxies and I do think we haven't quite dealt with that...

Anecdotal, but I'm definitely noticing an uptick in advocacy for violence here. About which I'll say only this: Promoting violence on social media is the work of trolls and fools, those eager to bait others into implicating themselves in the age of surveillance or fools rushing to the gulag.
