Haven’t used Bluesky in about 4 months. Haven’t been posting anything, anywhere, outside of a couple of Discord servers; cut right back on The Internet. Instead I’ve been keeping an increasingly sprawling journal / PKMS, just for myself. It’s been kind of incredible, actually?

New episode of my current favourite podcast, Starship Alexandria with @emmanewman.bsky.social and @aptshadow.bsky.social (Adrian Tchaikovsky). Going to delay listening to this one for a day or two though, I’m only halfway through the book.

So @cyningstan.bsky.social has done it again and released a fantastic CGI roguelike dungeon crawler. Well worth a play - DOS(box) and Windows versions available.

I'll never get over how the best line in all of noir – "I've got eight slugs in me. One's lead, and the rest are bourbon" – doesn't come from Raymond Chandler or Dashiell Hammett, but Calvin and Hobbes

I really want to play some Elder Scrolls Online. I haven’t touched it for a few weeks, besides claiming my login goodies. Want to get Wrothgar wrapped up before the new content patch hits consoles in a few weeks time.

This is kind of interesting because it shows that an LLM can’t do this with any accuracy or skill, and it’s basically the Lemonade Stand game. Instead of boiling an entire ocean to get a LLM to do it badly, a human could write a handful of IF statements to handle it basically forever.

Aronofsky? The guy who made pi? The movie about an unfortunate guy with mental health issues who builds a giant computer that spits out probably random junk but he frantically imbues it with meaning until he has a breakdown? That Aronofsky?

Just been to our favourite little French restaurant just around the corner. The owner announced he’s selling up, having not-quite recovered after Covid. Absolutely gutted. Wife has been going there ~14 years, me ~9. End of an era.

Went out to vote. Polling station in a pub. Rewarded ourselves with a Democratic Pint. Stopped in another pub on the way home. Now in a Greek restaurant. Feels very birth-of-democracy and civic-minded. Well done us. Good citizens/drunkards.

I know when you’re viewing a house to buy you shouldn’t judge the furniture or decor, because that’s not what you’re buying, but this house came with fleas.
