Administration pulled "Ponies" by Kij Johnson from curriculum at Otsego Public Schools (MI). They gave no reason why the story that's been used for years and years was suddenly pulled...but given it's a story about authoritarianism, we know damn well why.

On one hand, if you're overly genre/media-savvy you could point to very early superheroes killing their adversaries which (as I understand it) was partly curtailed because creators didn't want to have to reinvent the wheel for a baddie every issue. But on a moral/ethical level, it's a good question.

I’ve heard the question, “why do some superheroes have a no-kill rule,” a lot.

I don’t think I’ve heard very much about, “why should any superhero have to kill?”

Stuff like, demand Congress take back power of the purse & tariffs & 👇

Don’t Democrats need to demand that provisions curbing the administration’s authoritarian moves need to be attached to legislation funding the government?"

This is kinda stupid to do, isn't it? She's already lied and lied. She's not going to tell the truth about Trump. She has no incentive to, and every reason not to.

I definitely see that value for some people. For me, it's kind of like when I didn't watch the presidential debates or the State of the Union and people couldn't understand why. It boils down to: why would I watch him when I know absolutely everything that comes out of his gourd is unhinged lies?

I don't follow Aaron Rupar. I don't necessarily WANT to block him, but it seems like everyone on this platform constantly reposts his shit into my feed.

I get it -- he's prolific, and it's perfect for quote-dunking. Still, I feel like Rupar offers context-free clips, basically reposting propaganda.

I wrote a 15 page report on heraldic symbolism in medieval armor and weapon design for my art history class the night before it was due (8am class). Made up 90% of it (only found one book for reference) and got an A. GenAI could fucking never.
wrote 20 pages on Faulkner's The Bear four hours before final papers were due on trucker pills and coffee and cigarettes and got an A, fuck you.

New — I was fortunate to speak in front of students and faculty at Grinnell College in Iowa tonight about the business of independent journalism, the current state of media under Trump 2.0, and billionaire control.

I published my full speech because I thought it might resonate beyond campus:

No clearer indication of the right’s moral rot than the swift evolution from angrily denying any association with buffoonish bigots like like Posobiec and Fuentes, to “there’s no harm in having a conversation,” to openly praising and promoting them.
