Appreciated CM Horton's comments asking if they could maybe please consider Vision Zero and our modal hierarchy, but y'all…why do we have to keep reminding Metro of their own policies? Why do all the designs they choose to show directly contradict these?

I too was downtown, on a bike (and bus, because of a chest cold that won't go away), because that is where I work and cycling is the fastest way to get to that work. What a coincidence.
We bike. We do it downtown. We go to work, and we pickup our kids from daycare. Downtown. It's the place to be, because it's the central location. So we bike downtown.

None of my 2025 experiences with men working in Nashville public spaces/detours or traffic management have made me think they are not sociopaths.
Dude legit moved the sign so my daughter and I could get through after I kindly explained why it's important to keep the bike lane open, then moved it right back while laughing and waving at us 👎

I am also a 'horror' that persists, according to drivers. Really, I wish someone would yell that at me, instead of the vile garbage I've heard recently; it would at least be funny.
The horrors persist but so do we. 4,000 miles in and it’s still one of the best things I’ve ever bought.

I know it's too much to read the words that many of us write, but what we are actually mad about are systems that force people into car dependency and policy choices that mean living somewhere walkable and bikeable with robust public transit is ridiculously expensive. We want to fix this!

Nashville, listen up.
There's also an assumption that all jobs require, say, suits and ties and that it would be impractical for people to show up to those jobs sweaty. But A) not all people work jobs like that and B) many offices could help by providing showers and lockers for people to freshen up if they want to.

150 years. 150.
Incredible
When mad drivers tell you that you, a cyclist, don't belong on roads because you don't pay registration and the gas tax, show them the Road Damage Calculator. Compare, for example, the damage made by a small SUV and a longtail cargo e-bike. Very different orders of magnitude roaddamagecalculator.com

IMO it is *imperative* that we get bus lanes on Main and downtown, and that we build out the mobility lanes shown in Connect Downtown. I’m just not gonna get too mad at TDOT saying no as long as we’re still saying no to ourselves

Everyone calm down. Those parked cars in the unnecessary slip lane need to get where they are not going as fast as possible.
The greenway between Germantown and downtown currently detours from a 4 lane urban highway to 3rd Ave via a slip lane with cars parked in it

Ban right on red.
Yesterday, I was very minorly hit by a driver turning right on red from Greenfield Ave onto Gallatin because he simply didn’t look to his left to see me in the crosswalk before letting off the brake, which was the second time this year I’ve had a close call AT JUST THIS ONE INTERSECTION
More than half of Toronto drivers in a Universtiy of Toronto study didn't look for people walking or on bikes before turning right. Study used eye-tracking tech.

Increasingly deadly vehicles, dumb laws, and irresponsible driving equal people being injured and killed.

#Nashvillebikeweather 12/10/25: Warmer, but windier. Tolerable temps. Intolerable numbers of men in their cappuccino big screen SUV shouting misogynistic, unprintable things for causes unknown about bike commuters being weak and awful.
While I fight a head wind with a chest cold. Irony is toast.

#Nashvillebikeweather 12/9/25: Yikes. Double up those gloves. And it's chest cold season. Dressing is tricky when it's below freezing and you've got your bike, but the Wego 7 is heated to Death Valley in June vibes.

@hubnashville.bsky.social response to this mess.
"Bikers are to merge with traffic. Contractor has been permitted to close sidewalk with a 24 officer on site."
I would be dead in the first month if I followed that plan, and I have above average bike skills. Just not acceptable.
#nashvillebikeweather 12/3/25: cold. Terrible wind yesterday p.m. not sure why forcing people to walk on shelby EB is considered acceptable. I didn't see any detour signs or safe way through.
