Flock CEO Garret Langley thought he could assuage guilt about creating a massive private surveillance apparatus by using "transparency". He earned that secrecy is the way to keep cops happy -- just like its siblings Motorola/Vigilant, Axon/Fusus, Genetec who build these ALPR networks in the shadows.
Scoop: Police have recently been ordered to be "as vague as permissible" in the Flock system about the searches they do in a message shared with several major police departments around the country by the FBI. Actively avoiding transparency is now the strategy:

Police Told to Be ‘as Vague as Permissible’ About Why They Use Flock
The documents show law enforcement sees themselves as being consistently and universally under threat from the people it is supposed to protect.

I was going to ask y'all to donate to @signal.org but I had to do it first.

Now that I have, please consider learning about Signal, and why privacy is important, even when you don't have anything to hide, then consider donating to help Signal continue their work. signal.org/donate

One arrest by local or state authorities (can’t tell who since there’s several agencies at play) at the hotel noise protest. Several protesters shoved by police. Pepper balls deployed on crowd.

I interviewed two of the mods of r/Minneapolis about their tireless work this month: “I just wanted a local subreddit to know what was happening in my city, and now all of a sudden, we’ve turned into this de facto hub of information for basically how to fight fascism.”

It's worth noting that ICE and CBP shot more of those vulnerable neighbors *in-between* Good and Pretti. And yet...

You know what nevermind.

Needless to say that Renee Good and Alex Pretti will go down as heroes here in Minnesota and nationally, their names synonymous with sacrifice and caring for vulnerable neighbors even at the risk of your own life. And hopefully no more innocent lives are lost.

Walz pulls a Kanye, for some reason. And I can't even evaluate how much bootlicking Tim does here because this vitally important communication from the governor IS PAYWALLED.
I spoke to the President earlier. We had a productive conversation and I explained to him that his staff doesn’t have their facts straight about Minnesota. My thoughts in the Wall Street Journal:

Federal officials are lying. My state’s Corrections Department honors all immigration detainers.

We need an EVICTION MORATORIUM NOW.

Our neighbors risk being separated from their families when they go to work. They also run the risk of being displaced if they don’t.

Sadly, Mayor Frey refused to sign the resolution calling on the Governor to enact this moratorium.

I’m also breaking a little news here. Avelo ending its ICE flights isn’t as great as you might’ve thought. (Sorry.) They sold the planes to the company DHS hired to stand up their own deportation fleet.

Ope!
"ICE will leave Minnesota if you hand over your voter rolls" tells you everything you need to know.

This was never about immigration or fraud. It was always about rigging elections.

All the work we are doing for an eviction moratorium comes down to this. We care more about those forced into hiding than we do about landlords making a profit.
