We flew from San Juan island to Seattle in a small plane, as we were boarding the PA called for Stockard Channing to board too. The really cool thing was that the pilot sat my 10 year old in the copilot’s seat because “he’s the only one who can’t reach the controls!”

I have my dad’s copies of the 2 issues of MF&SF that serialized The Pale Brown Thing, need to read “Our Lady of Darkness” to see where he went with it!
Also, somebody needs to bring Leiber's late, perhaps-autobiographical novel "Our Lady of Darkness" back into physical print. There's an ebook, but in print it seems only to be available used for huge money.

I can’t reply to the original post, but when I was an undergrad working for a physics lab that studied cosmic rays we cleared out an old store room… found some panels that had a grid of wire across them, only the wire had been torn open…
I think we need a mega thread of everyone's craziest archive stories.

Big No Kings protest in Astoria OR on Marine Dr, most drivers were supportive/neutral, a few people flipped us off or revved their engines… and one older blonde woman in a light blue Jeep was driving down the edge of the lane swerving towards the crowd… multiple calls received by Astoia PD… FAFO?
