There is no sacred text
That pronounces
A government by, for, and of the billionaires
And so, now,
We must denounce
A government by, for, and of the billionaires
In the future, let it be said:
Unwisely we wrought it
But bravely we fought it
It's a gloomy day for me. My music has been pulled from all streaming services by my distributor (claiming artificial streams - which I didn't do).

In the meantime, the one place to access my music is Bandcamp: samueljonasson.bandcamp.com

Just paid $27 to receive a package from Hong Kong. My niece sent my daughter a paper craft ($10 stated value).

Tariffs are taxes on **Americans**, paid by **Americans**. Don't believe the "not a tax" rhetoric.

Friends, let’s direct our ire and our rhetorical fire towards those whose public histories demonstrate their enmity towards constitutional democracy and human dignity. Let’s not leap to conclusions about private citizens whom we don’t know.

Brother-in-law and his wife are in town from WY. They were in Salt Lake yesterday for an event and unwittingly got caught in some of the protest. Although they were just trying to find a route thru, some protesters yelled at them and called them racist. SIL was in tears. Folks, that’s not okay.

Citizens United is among the worst decisions in Supreme Court history.

It's allowed billionaires to completely take over our politics and destroy our democracy.

There are days when we are reminded just how pernicious that ruling was.

Today is one of those days.

Look beyond Trump and Musk's public blowout to the bigger problem: the infiltration of Big Money in our politics. It has corrupted our democracy — creating a vicious cycle that funnels more wealth and power to those at the top while drowning out the needs of regular Americans.

This is shocking. It calls for a public outcry to demand accountability from those responsible.

"You're still passing too many bills!"
100% this. From a legislature that is full of people who think the word "regulation" is dirty...
A couple of lil' nuggets from the Utah Taxpayers Association: Total state budget is $30.8 billion now that the legislative session is over and appropriations are sorted out.

"You're still passing too many bills!" Tax Commission Chair John Valentine tells lawmakers in the crowd. #utpol #Utah

Pillar 5: Address Root Causes of Migration

For too long, we've been treating the symptoms of the border crisis instead of addressing its root causes. It's time for accountability from other countries to fight fentanyl and illegal migration.

The group should be renamed Oligarchs for Worker Repression.
But I was informed that the danger of ballot initiatives was the susceptibility to influence from out-of-state interests…
A group that wants to keep the anti-union law in place, calling itself Utahns For Worker Freedom, has received $602,000 from the Club For Growth, a conservative organization based in Washington, D.C.

I would have liked to hear more specific examples to support his characterization of contempt.
Now Sen. Daniel Thatcher is speaking.

"I was shocked by the absolute contempt shown by the Republicans in the Legislature toward the citizens of Utah. I had always hoped that the GOP would return to its principles, but after Amendment D, I knew they were too far gone."

Quist takes a couple of swipes at the GOP supermajority in the Legislature:

"Utahns are tired of paying to defend unconstitutional laws in court and losing those cases."

"I would rather have principles and no policy than policies and no principles."

They were found guilty of a full blown attack on our country, domestic terrorism, and they somehow walk free among us. None of them were sent to prison for life, and none of them were sent to prison in El Salvador.

1/ Utah Senate Republicans meet today to vote on overriding the veto of HB306, which allows the state to pay vendors using gold.

When the $177K price tag scared lawmakers, author and podcaster Kevin Freeman stepped in to personally fund it.

The fringe conspiracy theory behind Utah's push to pay its bills with gold
Utah could become the first state to pay its bills with gold instead of dollars. The theory is pushed by a conspiracy theorist who warns of global elites using digital currency to control society.

No. Don’t do this. Don’t normalize this. This is an idea so abhorrent, so rubicon crossing, we don’t return from that hell.

El Salvador cannot hold any American. Immigrant citizen asylee.
If the US is going to start sending US citizens to prison in El Salvador then the first person who should be shipped there is the guy convicted of 34 felonies for cheating in the 2016 presidential election.

Pretty much the same amount Republicans promise to “save” in this budget is what the IRS could have collected from tax cheats and wealthy/sophisticated filers WITHOUT RAISING A SINGLE TAX.

But instead somebody somewhere will lose out on healthcare. Stupid and cruel.

Agreed. And for the things you must buy (groceries), buy local.
Americans have the most consumer spending power in the world. We stop spending and we can shut down this mess! This is an opportunity to use our power and I intend to do so #tariff #NoBuy

It is extremely important to buy local now. We've got to support small businesses. They will be hit hard in the coming months.
