I noticed someone mentioning that they couldn't afford "How Git Works" right now.

we have a "buy one give one" program where we give away 1 free copy for every zine sold. You can use code BUYONEGIVEONE to get a free PDF copy of How Git Works if $12 is a lot for you.

I can't stop thinking about Zuck's "masculine energy". I have worked in Tech since 2007. I have routinely been the only woman in a room. No matter how many green teas and lactation rooms you put in, this industry remains overwhelmingly masculine.

If it sucks, it's because the men in charge suck.

Wow! LASCO is a camera on the SOHO space-based solar observatory. It has an occulting disk that blocks the Sun and lets us see fainter material around it. This time-lapse lasts several days, and holy wow that comet!
What a beauty! This is comet C/2024 G3 (ATLAS) passing through the field of view of the LASCO C3 coronagraph.

It wasn't for certain whether it would survive it's closest approach to the sun on January 13th, but it did and delivered us a spectacular show!

For those out there leaving comments on posts from people who are excited about the Switch 2 like "I hope the Switch 2 fails." or "Nintendo sucks blah blah."

Hey. Shut up.

It's one thing to not like something, but to go out of your way to rain on someone's parade is baby behavior. Grow up.

With everything so seemingly terrible these days & no sign of anything remotely hopeful in the near future, I thought you might need this photo of a baby giraffe.

I know this icon is supposed to be a video camera, but it looks more like a blocky angler fish in the middle of a conversation.

LIBERTY

Photographed twelve hours ago, Curiosity rover's MAHLI Calibration Target, with its 1909 Lincoln penny, and, just above it, a very tiny cartoon figure of "Joe the Martian".

I talk about this a lot in my exoplanets public lecture — Earth has a *lot* of surface water. A LOT. I flew to Australia from SF and was over land for about 30 minutes out of a 13 hour flight. The Pacific is HUGE, half the planet.
It’s interesting that the emojis show the earth from three angles 🌎 🌍 🌏 but not the fourth.

Though 🔵 is a fair approximation of what it would look like.

People underestimate the Pacific.

how do you all remember every UUID? I find it really hard. so I wrote them all down on every uuid dot com

the list has fast search across all 2^122 values (so you can find your favorites) - hoping to add some social features like "trending UUIDs" soon!

I need to find a coffee studio. Maybe a tea studio for the right kind of tea.
you can categorise all indie studios into these 3 types:
-coffee lovers
-tea enjoyers
-redbull fiends

Hey everyone! The remaster I've been working on for like 6 years is out! It's a remaster of my 11 year old game InFlux! It's a marble-rolling puzzle game! You can buy it! Please leave positive reviews for it so the algo doesn't immediately bury it?!?! Ily

The flipside of this is the thing you put off for a long time because it'll be a nightmare to get down, and then it takes an hour and is fun. Much more rare than the converse though.
I'm in this post and I don't like it
Two stages of writing:

1) This shouldn't take too long
2) Oh no

The existence of "Very Negative" and "Overwhelmingly Negative" is so funny to me??? Which petty Steam employee thought this was needed???

"Not only is your game ass, but 500 people agree that it's ass!"

Either way, this chart should explain why reviews are so important to indies! #gamedev
