TFW you recommend a bra brand to a math friend and they respond “but like what’s its first homology group as a manifold?”

“The choices are not between execution and permission”
Acting as judge, jury, and executioner against civilian vessels would lead to war crimes charges with nearly any other country’s leader.

If you allow a government to break the law because of an “emergency”, it will create an emergency to break the law.

in light of the kimmel news, just a reminder that a few days ago a prominent fox news host literally called for killing homeless people. right afterward, someone shot up a couple homeless encampments.

that fox news host still has his job.
Brian Kilmeade endorses euthanizing homeless people: "Involuntary lethal injection, or something. Just kill them."

Looking for a job? Know someone who is? TPSE has a half-time admin spot open. It's fully remote, pretty flexible, includes BENEFITS - and you'd get to work with a fun bunch of math people.

Circulate widely - esp. to any of the 100's of dedicated former fed workers.

Here's a short happy-go-lucky 🎶 parody about the way that
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is now collapsing American healthcare - based off #PaulSimon's toe-tapping "Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard".

It's called: "Measles and Polio Down in the Schoolyard."

It's a cold case. The syllabus contains a full, detailed confession, but no one noticed for five years ... until it was sent to the provost for review under the new state-mandated gen ed assessment process. It passed the initial review phase because the learning outcomes are fine.
I would read an academic murder book in which the murder was solved by reading the syllabus
I love this idea and also want a list of academic murder books. Please reply with recs

I thought the worst thing about it was the ridiculous hyper-airbrushed texture we’ve come to expect from this nonsense technology and then I saw the actual full ad and apparently this fake woman made of environmental ruin and stolen art is about eight feet tall

This is Derrick Van Orden (R-WI). If he votes for this bill,
32,669 of his constituents would lose access to healthcare.
34,393 of his constituents could lose access to their food assistance.
1,808 energy jobs in his district could be lost.
At least 1 rural hospital in his district could close.

This is brilliance (chefs kiss)
The tone here is directed at myself, who didn't think of this the right way around until this instant, even though I "understood" Simpson's paradox.
If you slice a long thin baguette into thin slices, then each of the bits will be taller than they are wide even though the original is wider than it is tall. This incredibly obvious bit of geometry is incredibly obvious unless you're doing statistics, in that case it's called Simpson's paradox.

Where leaders do this is MY America.
#ProudBlue

This is what true leadership looks like. You lead with compassion & empathy. You comfort & heal.

Not the hateful BS happening right now.

I miss Biden’s leadership. He wasn’t perfect, but he is a good man & a true leader.

These pics don’t fit their narrative of him being unfit.

This is oligarchy. This is obscene.

While 60% live paycheck to paycheck & kids go hungry, Jeff Bezos, worth $230 billion, goes to Venice on his $500 million yacht for a $20 million wedding & spends $5 million on a ring while his real tax rate is just 1.1%.

End this oligarchy.

I’m speaking with a young person and I ask her, “what are your favorite classes this year?” She starts naming teachers…I say oh I meant classes, not teachers. She looks at me and says “Mr. Neil, the teacher is the class.”
