I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

All the attempts to move to a more progressive society in the 2010’s (Occupy, Me Too, BLM, pandemic health) have not only not stuck, they spurred on a reactive move even further right as punishment, and yet conservatives act like their mere existence caused them to become laws etched into stone
