Some of the coolest bugs in Asia’s rainforests are these female Lycid Beetles, that look like they’re from prehistoric ages!😱🦕
They retain their larval form as adults and feed on decaying matter in the leaf litter of the forest! 🍂
I get goosebumps every time I see them! 😁

New baseline studies to be conducted in southern Tasmanian waterways. Absolutely astounding that baseline studies were not part of salmon pen establishment permits & that philanthropy not the industry or state government is paying for them. Brilliant! After 1.5 hours of stamping around in the Brisbane sauna today, deciding there were no owls, trying to take a short cut back to the car ... that looks like a great nest hollow ... that tree looks nice for roosting ... that looks like scat! ... (looks up) f**k me there's a Powerful Owlet!

In the spring & autumn, bats roost in piles of dead leaves. However, in the winter, bats will hibernate in the snow which the bats dig into by themself. These holes will provide a stable temperature for the bats

Having been born on this day in 1957, I am somewhat susceptible to tv adverts we see at this time of year, ones that use the festivities of the 1970s as a means of evoking nostalgia for Christmases gone by. I think this one may have gone a bit too far however.
