DHS needs to be abolished along with these functions. It was hastily created to begin with. We should not be surprised that this is where it has led.
It is increasingly clear that stripping the Department of Homeland Security down to the studs — ICE, Border Patrol, all of it — is the minimum we must do when we regain power.
But we can’t afford to wait that long to rein in these agencies.

Went to repost this and then depressingly saw it was from 8 months ago. This is still true, and I am now convinced it will remain true until there are successful primary challenges nationwide to the "roll over and play dead" Dems.
American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.
