I'm that data scientist at the beginning of the movie warning of impending doom while multitasking and stress-baking. Probably cookies.
I swear to God if I hear one more ignorant coworker say "eye-ran" I am going to explode

I am “actively looking at” pulling the waistband of Stephen Miller’s underpants up over his head and stealing his lunch money.
Stephen Miller says they are “actively looking at” suspending the writ of habeas corpus, which is only allowed when the US has been invaded or during an insurrection, which would not allow people to challenge their incarceration in court if they are arrested and detained.

There is in fact no way to make a case for a moral or political obligation to have children that does not degrade the status and dignity of women by claiming ownership their bodies as instruments for collective use.

Mahmoud Khalil was exercising his First Amendment rights, he is being deported due to political speech.

Take a step back, even if you disagree with his politics, as a US resident, he is protected by the First Amendment.

the main thing I've never understood about politics is the misplaced loyalty. did you know that if a person you voted for does something dumb or bad, you can simply opt not to defend them? it is very easy.

be mercurial, like a cat who hasn't been fed in 20 min. make these people earn your love

Lots of other places too. In my annual mtg with our section chief, she said she is "concerned" that I am having trouble separating what is going on at the federal level from my work.

Important context, I work in state govt.
I'm feeling like there's a lot of toxic positivity in mental health spaces right now. Maybe I'm just cranky, but being told you should be a special unicorn who's got superpowers and is so creative and can do so many things is not helpful when I'm struggling to remember what I'm even doing here rn.

To anyone heading out to the protests today, remember to leave as much as you can at home, focus on being a part of the collective, and listen to organizers instructions.

Drink lots of water and Do Good. Be safe and help each other.

It’s incredible that Cory Booker spoke for 25 hours. Sadly also incredible he did not say *one word* about *the ultimate* stress test of today: the detention of students speaking out against acts like Israel executing 15 medics in Gaza (also something Booker said nothing about)

They are just disappearing people off the street. Having a hard time thinking about literally anything else.
Not sure if this has been shared here yet, but this is video of Rumeysa Ozturk's arrest posted by WCVB. It's terrifying.

The idea that government should be run like a business is a myth that won’t die. We’re seeing the fallacy of it every day, I argue here:
Americans Overestimate the Value of Business Skills in Government
In The Best and the Brightest, David Halberstam demonstrated that private-sector skills have no place in government.

White people especially, in the media will scream about illegality, congressional approval, etc.

This is not about law. This is about power.

The full weight of America’s raw power has been used to destroy progress around the world.

And now it’s boomeranging back here.

I’m not saying I was ready for this. But I can’t say I’m surprised by any of this.

People like me who write about race, global affairs, colonialism are often labeled race-baiters, activists, etc.

When all this time we’ve been warning of the harm, the authoritarianism America is capable of.
