things that can stay after we've won the war on Christmas:
- twinkly lights (but only in white color, green and red is tacky and banned)
- specifically the sugarplum fairies song from the nutcracker
- Mariah Carrey Christmas memes (but not playing the song on loop)

A common thread between Bari Weiss' career and the trans instructor purged by christofash is liberal gullibility. It was obvious what both were from the start, but instead of their bs just being crushed they were heard out, considered, pondered.

Grow up. This too precious bs gets people killed.

🚨WORTHY ESSAY ALERT🚨

"but i’m more interested in a different question. what happens when a spell becomes cheaper than a worker."

The traditional magic=tech worldbuilding question has always bored me. Add class analysis to the mix? I'm in.

Last rebleet: it's like I've been saying. People treat the epstein files like they're conclusive only because they'd rather take the word of a billionaire serial rapist over a woman

so much of what's been "newly" released re: Epstein is just confirming past credible assertions made by his victims. I've been re-reading 2019 stories while reading the new coverage and so little has changed about what we know. meanwhile Andrew Tate walks free. people only care about the spectacle

I like that mistletoe increases the odds of being kissed. More plants should offer temporary environmental status. Brawling under lingonberries. The soft yearning of a love that dare not speak its name beneath the nightshade.

Especially in urban areas where surveillance is ubiquitous I feel so deeply unsettled everywhere I go. The vectors for abuse are bad enough without manufacturers just leaving the data out there available to anyone savvy enough to find it.

My no-fun-at-parties take is that "christmas is a secular holiday" is an uncomfortable way of assuring me that christianity is the status quo and everything outside of that is an aberration. Sorry! It's still a christian holiday!! Just because you're an atheist doesn't make it secular!

it just feels like ultimately people are using the whole thing as an identity signifier instead of actually weighing their experiences with the technology and the costs the technology demands from individuals and society and then charting that on to individual usage

im getting really sick of the primary voices i hear about "ai" being a problem coming from people who think learning enough about how it works to identify its use is some kind of sin and whose justifications for hating it range from vibes-based to mystical

i've procrastinated so hard with my anti-trans tipping point series but one of the failures of the mainstream trans rights movement imo is how trans healthcare is seen as something nebulous and irrelevant to the majority of americans instead of the anti-healthcare trojan horse
lol they really love this framing that one reason it's bad to be doing all this frivolous trans exterminationism is that the timing is inconvenient for real americans

To suggest otherwise is slander—it is to say that they are no better than the degenerate gays having group sex or whatever. It is to speak the unspeakable—that the mystical protection granted to them by their conformity with patriarchal mores is a lie, that they are just as vulnerable and fallible

Tbqh I think that monogamous people getting big mad when someone suggests that their lifestyle isn’t a replacement for routine STI testing is akin to the outrage of christofascists who feel oppressed bc they have to live alongside people different from them who don’t recognize their supremacy

The insistence that trans people don't Really change their sex via the process of medical transition inevitably lays the groundwork for legitimating claims that gay and lesbian sexual practice - or anything other than heterosexual PIV - isn't Really "having sex" but actually something else entirely
