An educated society is a vital for the survival of democracy.

Also all the other platforms seem to be full of bots. I came here for a fresh start and non-toxic space.

So what’s so special about this Bluesky app?
Hannah Fry and Michael Stevens are launching The Rest Is Science. Yes, it’s another podcast but this one feels special. I grew up watching Vsauce, so I’m a Michael Stevens fan, and I love how Hannah makes science clear, warm, and inviting. Source: YouTube share.google/JV38Md2vefKK...

Why are government officials still using a platform that, in my view, openly tolerates racism, homophobia, and abuse? They should lead with integrity, not rely on a space that too often amplifies hate over public service

We lived through one of the worst governments in modern history—a period when the Boris administration seemed focused solely on staying in the headlines. It was all about image for them, even if it meant playing with people’s lives.

The fact crash victims can be filmed and shared within minutes shows how broken our online culture is. As adults and social media companies we have a social responsibility yet X under Musk has only normalised exploitation. Social responsibility shouldn’t be optional. www.bbc.com/news/article...

All these UK high street closures—Poundland, Co-op, WHSmith & more—are shocking, yet no one seems to care. We’re obsessed with boats & immigration while our own communities crumble. When did saving our towns stop being a priority?

One of the more disgusting things I’ve seen on TikTok of flaggers enacting their hooliganism on the public. Putting up flags with complete disregard for others. In an attempt to spread hate, calling themselves patriots while humiliating the elderly. Reminiscent of Nazi Germany.

Whenever I see things like this I genuinely try to wrap my head around why a South African American Billionaire is publicly supporting the rally to remove the BBC though the words of a failed former prime minister

Literally buy any electric vehicle but a Tesla.

There’s no longer justification for funding a man who wears his white supremacy on his sleeve and is the author of a massive H-1B visa scam—firing American workers by the thousands so he can get cheap captive labor from abroad.

Time to boycott Tesla.

Now that I've fled Leon's site for bluer skies, I'm sure I'll be called an #Ex-X, but personally, I'll always consider myself a #TwitterQuitter.

Just my 2 cents. But my goal is to ignore the trolls. Give them zero attention. Block them if they annoy me.

I think the worst thing we can do on this site is re-create the ad hominem/ personal attacks that occur across comments on Twitter/insta/tiktok/ etc

Let’s also acknowledge how these types of right wing conspiracies are being supported by the billionaire rocket man through his toxic platform.

I’ve genuinely enjoyed the past few days. I’ve not completely abandoned X but I’m definitely not using it as much. Feels so great to live without the level of toxicity I’ve been experiencing.
Bluesky feels like I took a Time Machine back to 2009 when I was still like “Hey this social media thing is going to make the world a better place.”

One thing I hope we can do as Bluesky gets larger is be less tolerant of the resistance grifters who will try to hack the platform for engagement and growth without any interest in adding anything substantive or meaningful

It’s a different kind of troll.
