Americans are so easily hoodwinked by the sanctity of law and authority. In fact, the pattern of life has become standardized, routinized, and mechanized like canned food and Sunday sermons. Even songs are turned out like buttons or automobile tires—all cast from the same mold.

Procedural rules are not, and have never been, value neutral.

Nothing in the legal system is.

I have a tough time fitting myself into a box here. Despite the terminally online puritans often thinking I’m a bootlicker (I think they think I work for a party or campaign, lol), i don’t fit neatly into one opinion.

Primaries ARE good. I agree. But everyone must be bought in on the outcome.
Democrats are terrified of primaries.

And that's a mistake.

Vibrant primaries produce better candidates, stronger campaigns, new technology, and a lot of highly engaged activists.

It's good for the party overall—both in 2026 and in 2028.

"that's why anyone who insisted we don't discard/dehumanize/abandon marginalized ppl now deserves to suffer"

this is what allows atrocities.

BadGuysTM initiate them, but GoodGuysTM abetting makes it mainstream.

When someone expresses genuine regret voting for Trump, the best thing we can do is welcome them into the fold. We're not gonna get anywhere with ridiculous gatekeeping and pettiness. Let's offer folks an off-ramp into the coalition of reasonable adults.

Doomscrolling checkpoint: look at this perfect baby 😍
Exciting news! We’re thrilled to announce that tapir Yuna gave birth to a rare and endangered Malayan tapir calf Sunday night. The newborn, covered in distinctive white spots and stripes resembling a fuzzy walking watermelon, is only the second tapir born in our 120-year history.

Please understand me when I say this:

It is MORE IMPORTANT, not less, to listen to your lawyers and legal support right now if you are doing ANY kind of activism, direct action, or organizing work. It is MORE important. I'm really serious.

I went to my Congressman's local office today. First off, they were surprised that I was there. They said they had been getting phone calls, but I was the first walk-in. That said, the phones were not ringing off the hook. If the DC phone lines are busy, try calling the local office.

I see "anticipatory obedience" everywhere right now, and it's really key for us (also in Europe/worldwide) to plan ahead and be ready to resist, bc these trends seem to come with a few years lag after the US (think populist, fascist-friendly gov't takeovers):

If you’re a Democratic lawmaker wondering why so many of us are frustrated with your messaging and wondering what it is we want, check out Justin Trudeau’s response to Trump’s tariffs and please take notes.

Great post by @trekkiebill.bsky.social

As someone growing up in Ireland in the 90s, Star Trek showed me the diversity that I didn't see in my everyday life.

A world where everyone was equal is normal in #StarTrek - it felt right to me too.

Thank you to Trek for opening my eyes to a wider world
