I wanted to post this drawing of T'Lyn giving the reverse live long and prosper, something she probably picked up from Mariner, I drew for #startrek day because I still love #startreklowerdecks and I had a nice time meeting the voice actress Gabrielle Ruiz at a Star Trek convetion this weekend.

One thing that I'm really glad that #StarTrekLowerDecks did, or rather didn't do, was force a romantic relationship between Mariner and Boimler in the final season when they work so much better as friends.
Not every show needs to have main characters become a couple.

It's only seen ever so briefly but I love the Vulcan friendship salute seen in #StarTrekLowerDecks' "The New Next Generation". When doing this in real life, it's goinf to be tricky coordinating who's using their right and left hands, at least I would fail in this... ;-)

The Paradox of Tolerance disappears if you look at tolerance not as a moral standard, but as a social contract.
If someone does not abide by the terms of the contract, then they are not covered by it.
In other words: the intolerance are not following the rules of the social contract of mutual tolerance.
Since they have broken the terms of the contract, they are no longer covered by the contract, and they are intolerance should not be tolerated.

Sorry as someone who teaches rhetoric this is a wonderful response to the Paradox of Tolerance. I cannot tell you how many times my students have had debates about this. This is the response. This does indeed fix it. I cannot wait to tell this to my classes now. Apparently the reason that McDonalds ice cream machines are so frequently broken is that in addition to being technically complex the machines are under contract with the manufacturer to *only* be serviced by authorized Taylor technicians … who are in limited supply.
