So I’ve been making my way through Final Fantasy 7 and I keep thinking about how much the dev team was able to do with the limitations they had and making, at least in my opinion, a phenomenal game that holds up despite all the elements that don’t age well.

Have been a fan of The Princess Bride for years but I watched When Harry Met Sally and Misery for the first time this year and was so impressed with how excellent they both were. That is a flawless run of movies, all different but all perfect in their own ways. What a talent.

Final Fantasy 7 is very good because there is some genuinely good story and thematic brilliance but then you have a twist that’s like “actually there’s another guy who has a gun surgically grafted onto his arm” and I think that’s beautiful

I feel like all my Final Fantasy 7 takes are super redundant but it’s nice to know this game isn’t just nostalgia but is genuinely really compelling. For all my minor annoyances it makes it up in ambition and atmosphere. I see why this was such a big deal to so many people.

Playing through Final Fantasy 7 for the first time because apparently I promised @colesl4w.bsky.social that I’d do that this year and this game genuinely rules. A lot hasn’t aged great but I’m really enjoying myself.

My dad and I watched The X-Files together when I was a teenager at night when we were the only two people up. He got joy out of cliffhangers and being able to tell me “I think it’s time for you to go to bed.”

One of the many things I love about all three Benoit Blanc films is just how different they feel in a lot of ways, in tone, in setting, in types of mystery, I can’t see myself getting sick of these.

I go to the movies a lot. I have an AMC subscription and try to at least go twice a month to make it worth it. But even with that I still feel SO excited about going to the movies, like it’s not lost its appeal at all to me, and I think that’s neat
