I think we need to be more ok with being a little bad at things. I like singing & knitting & playing video games and I am bad to average at all of these things at BEST. And I don't care to improve! The act of doing them is fun and that should be enough thank u for coming to my Ted Talk

I tried to buy wine w/ a (lightly) expired license bc I never get carded anymore
But my hopes of a quick and normal interaction were immediately dashed when the older gentleman checking me out was like, "I'm about to make your day 😈" like no sir you are about to ruin it I now have to put on a SHOW

So ICE has effectively disappeared a student for protesting Israel's genocide, separating him from his 8 month pregnant wife. Pure fascism
UPDATE—Mahmoud's attorney says they do NOT know where he is.
They were first told he was sent to an ICE facility in Elizabeth, NJ. But when his 8-month-pregnant wife tried to visit him, she was told he's not there.
They've received reports he may be sent as far away as Louisiana.

By the way, ironically one way you can pave the way for building community is DEPEND ON YOUR FRIENDS. Don't just pay your own way everywhere. Ask people to share stuff. And make them feel okay about asking you for favours in return (and make sure that you are there for them if you can be).

Once again I am suggesting that you break some rules for practice. Get comfortable with breaking rules. When the rules are hurting other people, the right thing to do is break them. We need people who follow their moral code over the rules of their society, university, employer, and government.

Aside from the obvious direct harm, what's so irritating is that a handful of spoiled ignorant assholes are breaking things that we all built together. They weren't content to own almost everything, they had to wreck what little they didn't own. It's vandalism on a mass scale and has to be punished
