Call me a nerd, but yesterday, a federal judge in Pennsylvania cited my reporting in a ruling against the DOJ in a case challenging Trump-era actions targeting transgender people.

A reminder that this work really does matter.

The ACA isn't just "health care for people who don't have a conventional employer." It also disallows something that was incredibly common 20 years ago, which I fear is getting lost to generational memory: insurance companies could deny you health care for essentially any previous health problem.
I'm dubious about Amazon's commitment to keeping pre-existing conditions a thing of the past.

Everyone's mileage may vary but you get the effort that you put in, I think. You can't just post to the void and expect attention. I get that its exhausting to keep moving but it can't be good to keep all your eggs in one basket, you know??
Reading a lot about bsky not being a good socmed for artists compared to tw bc of the lack of engagement, but I moved here starting from 0 with an original webcomic project, and now my patreon has more supporters than it had at my peak doing fanart, also my publishing agent found me here!

It's kinda heartbreaking to see so many artists being like "can I post about OCs and not just fanart?", "can I talk about other stuff?", "can I post often?" because the other hellsite literally punished you for doing...normal things you do as an artist - as a person, even.

I’ve heard most journalists and politicians say that Trump hasn’t been directly accused of wrongdoing or implicated in the Epstein Files.

But, there are repeated instances of Trump being directly named as a perpetrator—by victims and by Epstein. It’s not circumstantial, it’s direct.

not joking, the idea of this is related to the embarrassment that contributed to musk taking over twitter, he stole memes from hard drive removing credit, when called out on it got defensive from the perspective he wasn't doing anything wrong, got dunked on so bad he bought mod control over the site

This site doesn't get up and running til you follow at least a hundo people tbh bc it doesnt have a slopserve algo- you gotta TELL it what you want!
To the influx of artists and people about to join in from another stupid move by shitty bird app, actually use this place. Genuinely, if you just make an account and leave, then there's no point. Try to post here whenever you can.

It is important to remember that right-wingers will not listen to explanations that the orphan-grinding machine is inefficient because they like the fact that it grinds orphans. They are, in fact, willing to tolerate a truly astounding degree of inefficiency if they can continue grinding orphans.

I think it’s important to insist on recalling, at all available opportunities, that this was specifically an attack on a trans instructor over an assignment about gender. Neither of those details are incidental; they are the center of the story
If you’re wondering why your friends in academia are a little on edge right now, it’s because an eighteen-year-old who hasn’t done the reading, doesn’t look at the assignment, and has does no critical thinking skills more complex than “because I think it’s in the Bible” can literally end your career
cnn.com CNN @cnn.com · 1d
The University of Oklahoma has removed an instructor who was accused by a student of religious discrimination over a failing grade on a psychology paper in which she cited the Bible and argued that promoting a “belief in multiple genders” was “demonic.” https://cnn.it/4b6g3rd

An easy way to explain this:

Which is easier to do, bake a cake from scratch, or fix a cake that someone baked after they accidentally used salt instead of sugar?
Just a thing about this: a common statement in writing is that you can fix crap, but you can't fix a blank page.

I have heard AI apologists claim that this is why it's fine to generate a first draft.

Now, to be clear, fuck this.

But also: an AI draft is a fucking blank page.
I know I don’t talk about writing much. It is because I am writing so slowly.

But I want you to know that I am taking a part of this story that absolutely sucked and took me months to produce four of the worst chapters I have ever written and in the edit I figured out how to fix it.
