Still a little mad about this. Dismissing craftivists (who are mostly women) as cringey bandwagoneers is bullshit. Not everyone is Extremely Online; communities form in person, too: PTA meetings, book club, grocery store, gas pump, daycare pickup, pharmacy, dog park, ice rink, stadium, etc etc etc
And they aren't all crowing about it on social media, so let's not assume that all the people in hats and buttons passing out whistles are doing nothing else. People - "wine moms," "knitters," who else do you think has ready access to breast milk? - are working behind the scenes for good.
A detail I don't want to get lost in this: So far, Bri and her network have helped more than 500 families with grocery deliveries and more than 300 with diapers and wipes. In just two months.

Prop 4 repeal organizers fire paid gatherers after Utah County clerk alleges fraudulent signatures
The Utah County Clerk has turned over several petition packets to the county attorney for an investigation into whether they were forged.
A total of 27 packets containing hundreds of signatures have been flagged as potentially having falsified signatures.

I have yet to see any evidence that there is a market for AI-generated books outside of people being tricked into thinking they are not AI-generated books. AKA, it is a project of scamming and deceiving people, and really should be treated as fraud

I had SO much fun in today's workshop. I talked to participants about getting to know thier characters using TTRPG character creation techniques and then they all made character bible zines.
It's definitely a workshop I would do again and expand.

My actual job description is activist and here’s what I tell people in despair all the time: do not underestimate how much harm you can prevent by being just a little bit annoying.
This is one reason I keep trying to remind people of the power that we have. That we have *always* had. Not because I’m in denial, but because I know history. I’m no sophisticated intellectual, but I do know we’re going to win even though the bad shit is really terrible right now.
Too many people on Bluesky think that relentless expressions of despair are a sign of intellectual sophistication.
