Hello everyone!

I’m Shauntelle (they/them) - an actor, writer, and psychologist on unceded Gadigal land (Sydney, Australia). You can find me all over the place, but especially where the TTRPGs are narrative forward, the mechanical metaphor is dense and the drama is dramatic.

See you around!
Shauntelle looks down toward the camera. They are outside in nature, with summer sun shining warm light on and behind them. Shauntelle sits in dark clothes with silver jewellery, an autumn flower crown and deep makeup Shauntelle smiles a toothy smile to camera. The light behind them is warm.

I took a film studies class I loved with my whole heart, the professor would read bits of peoples essays in class to spark discussion and i was quietly proud he almost always read from mine. I wrote an essay on orientalism 3 hours before it was due and it sucked absolute shit he did not read from it
monkeyminion.com
I wrote a 15 page report on heraldic symbolism in medieval armor and weapon design for my art history class the night before it was due (8am class). Made up 90% of it (only found one book for reference) and got an A. GenAI could fucking never.
wrote 20 pages on Faulkner's The Bear four hours before final papers were due on trucker pills and coffee and cigarettes and got an A, fuck you.
You people couldn't hang with real slackers.

This is the only proper way to watch Beckett. This person understands Beckett on a level you and I cannot even hope to.
luxalptraum.com
TFW you paid $1400 to see Beckett’s most famous work without knowing anything about it
One Star Review of Waiting for Godot on Broadway
I recently attended Waiting for Godot on Broadway and spent over $1,400 for two Row C seats (103 and 104). I'm a longtime admirer of Broadway productions and even hold a season pass for Shea's Performing Arts Theatre, so I came in with genuine enthusiasm and high expectations. Unfortunately, this show was unlike anything ! have ever experienced —and not in a good way.
What I encountered was not the artistry, music, or emotional storytelling I usually associate with Broadway, but instead what felt like an endless cycle of nonsensical conversation between characters who seemed trapped in their own madness. I tried-truly tried-to find meaning, symbolism, or even a thread of emotional resonance. I stayed through the first half hoping the second would offer clarity. But by intermission, it was clear: this was a waste of both time and money.
Keanu Reeves is an actor I respect greatly, but I cannot fathom why he would agree to participate in such a disjointed, inaccessible production. His talent was lost in a performance that defied reason rather than provoked insight.
To anyone considering attending: unless you are drawn to highly abstract, nearly incomprehensible theater, I strongly caution you against this show. For the average, educated, thoughtful theatergoer, it is far more frustrating than fulfilling. In my opinion, this was the single most disappointing Broadway experience I've ever had - an unfortunate waste of money and, more importantly, of time.

I’ve been appreciating how my regular watches on YT have kinda spread into telling stories that are about identifying and responding to tyrants. It’s not that I deliberately watch political content, so it’s even nicer. For instance, Tasting History’s video of the week is about Caligula.

kinda crazy how every single “just give people enough money to afford some basic stuff” experiments yield the exact same positive results that everyone benefits from every time, huh

Anyway, back to toiling

Damn. This is amazing. £325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:
www.citizensinformation.ie/en/employmen...
Post from Threads user rodneyowl: "Ireland has declared the Basic Income for Artists scheme permanent. This will be officially announced in tomorrow’s budget. Details to follow. Congratulations to all who fought for it and the present and future artists of all sorts in Ireland. That includes me 👌We’re just comin to the end of a 3 year pilot scheme. It’s been a roaring success. For every €1 paid out to the 2000 participants, the government got €1.46 back. Can’t argue with that. Other countries are already taking note."

#PaxAus Approacheth :o
My second Pax, and my second opportunity to destroy my weekend before I really get to experience anything at all.

I can’t wait.

There are too many things I am willing to do to myself for a good cause, I fear.
A promo photo for PaxAus. It says D&D but donations make it spicier, with GM Briefcase Brown, Nigelvictus, Ellen Graham, Rubii Red, HeidzDee, Shauntelle B and LNL Covers. Supporting GenerOzity, at the Wombat Theatre at 10.30am on Friday 10 October.

Really want to encourage libraries - especially school libraries - to put no-AI content into your collection development policy. At the very least, if you have a clause in there about requiring accurate information, you can use that to weed out or prevent genAI purchases.

“When you get a suspicious book, “you look it up to see what else the [author] has written. And you see there's 30 things, and none of them have any reviews, and they were all written in the last two years,” DeMeester-Lane says.”
How Local Librarians Keep AI Slop Off the Shelves
AI is being used to create nonsensical, sometimes dangerously inaccurate books. Local librarians are tasked with keeping these volumes out of their collections.

A judge blocked Trump from sending Oregon's National Guard into Portland.

That same judge then blocked Trump from deploying California's National Guard to Portland instead.

This isn't a "left wing" judge — Trump appointed her.

Says a lot about Trump's authoritarian power grab.

No President should ever stoke this kind of division and dehumanize the other half of the country in this way.
The image shows two X posts. The first, by Juliette Kayyem (@juliettekayyem
) from 1 hour ago, states: "'Take care of' is not subtle. This weekend the ground has shifted and no person can deny what the president, unpopular and unfit, intends. To remain silent is to welcome this. They can both sides or claim they didn't hear, but there is no wiggle room about his plans now." The second, by Aaron Rupar (@atrupar
) from 6 hours ago, quotes Trump addressing the Navy: "We have to take care of this little gnat that's on our shoulder called the Democrats." The post includes a photo of Trump speaking to a group in Navy uniforms, with a caption noting he "called the Democrats. They want to give all of our money to illegal."

Earlier this year, Dr. Jane Goodall sat down for an interview for Brad Falchuk’s new Netflix series, Famous Last Words.

The premise of the series is to interview people on the condition that the interview not air until the subject has passed away.

Something I find fascinating is the development of the word cunt in recent years.

It used to be the biggest no no in western speech (outside Australia). Now everything is cunty and it’s such a flip that I just marvel at how quickly things change.

Keep language cunty - let’s not 1984 speech. 🧐🙂‍↕️

tbh i dont understand what blueskys business model or longterm plans are and just kind of assume they are in a holding pattern until they can sell it
tiny.baby
i think bluesky needs to decide what they're making. if they're making a protocol, like some of their developers say, they should shut down the social media app that's causing them so many problems. if they're making a social media app, they have to engage with it like adults.

Japan just elected a rightwing PM who has expressed her admiration for Margaret Thatcher, which means

we're so back

Regardless of anything else, Trust & Safety is never the place for jokey-jokes.

Also, platforms and spaces that make their ToS or CoC jokey have, historically, almost never been safe for marginalized people.

If you're an indie creator, I expect the price of your ttrpgs, zines and comics to be higher than what I'd pay a bigger publisher for something similar. This will never stop me buying your cool stuff.

Charge proper prices for your hard work!
plusoneexp.bsky.social
When you go to print your #TTRPG remember that you need to charge at least about 6x the cost to print for sustainability.

Small to midsize publishers can take advantage of scale & you can't.

You are not Wizards, Evil Hat, Exalted Funeral, or Modiphius.

Ideally charge 10x an pay a bill.
