Brace yourself.
Six Nations "in-game ads" start tonight.
Twice in each match. Then five, then 10?
Sport on the threshold of another violation in the name of "revenue generation."

Extraordinary: Mandelson told Epstein that JP Morgan should "threaten" then cabinet colleague and chancellor Alistair Darling over tax on bankers' bonuses. In plain language: "Minister conspired with US bank against own government".

Competent law enforcement officers can defuse situations involving potentially dangerous individuals. They are trained for this, and they understand it is their job.

ICE seems to be the exact opposite: escalating situations to the point of killing peaceful individuals.

Starmer's speech is classic "community leader calls for calm" stuff.

Had to be done, in a way, as some public statement is expected, but it will make no real impact in the dynamics of the situation.

Juries are not perfect.

Many of the worst miscarriages of justice have followed jury trials.

But the merit of juries is not so much the power they have, but the power they prevent others from having.

They mean a judge cannot just nod-along with prosecution evidence and give a guilty verdict.

They’ve totally given up trying to do what’s right, with some warped ideas they think might be popular.
The people they’re trying to appeal to wouldn’t support them under any circumstances, yet they’re alienating the people that wanted them to succeed.
Politically inept, clueless, and depressing.

This document is the product of a broken administration, motivated by cynicism, immune to human decency, with a weak-to-non-existent understanding of the policy area they wish to legislate in.
And that's it. Overall impressions are
- there's still a surprising lack of detail
- lots of new work for officials but unlikely to lead to much change on the ground
- refugees will still live here rest of their lives but will struggle even more than before to integrate

There is a key moral distinction between immigration policy on new arrivals, no matter how draconian, and on people who have already been granted status, on set conditions. It is about being a country that keeps its word. If we're not that, we might as well fucking give up now.

Detained people without lawyers are only given a few days' notice of the intention to send them to France. In this time they need to find a lawyer, who will then need to gather evidence and consider whether there is a claim. Of course court applications are being made only shortly before removal.

Fascinating, and worrying, not just the exploitation of people's grief but what about the consent of the dead person having their identity uploaded and manipulated? What if one family member wants to do this and another strongly disagrees?
"Do you not find it exploitative to make money from people's grief?"

At Ai4 in Vegas, @lewisgoodall.com sees a jaw-dropping AI tool that lets you “talk” to dead loved ones.

It raises questions about life and death - and highlights just how quickly this tech is advancing.
