ah but you see sam, if the kids get liver cancer that just means they were meant to get it and Nature is doing its job
This regressive move will literally kill people. It's making kids' liver cancer great again. And it's a sign of more harm to come.

This is what the Butterball Turkey hotline is for. Also, find people you don't have to be perfect around. Werewolf and Jack-In-The-Box are good party games. Ask people what superpower they would want, or a hobby they want to try in the new year.
This is so soulless, I can't stand it. We have BRAINS. We can USE THEM.

it is frankly a *scathing* indictment of the White House press corps
I’ve been thinking and it’s kind of exceptional that not a single person said “Hey now” after the piggy comment.

Did you know? Black women have a 4% lower incidence rate of breast cancer than white women — but a 40% higher death rate. We need your voice to help us understand why — and how to close the gap. Take our short survey: wordinblack.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_...

It’s wild how casually we say “42 million people are on SNAP” like that’s just a normal statistic.

That’s 12% of the entire country—in the richest nation on earth—relying on government help just to eat.

That shouldn’t be a data point we shrug off.
That’s a national emergency.

NYC is going to have the world's biggest media-manufactured crime panic in history the second Mamdani is elected. They aren't even going to wait until he is inaugurated. Whether or not you like the guy, you need to start preparing now for the fire hose of disinformation that is about to activate.

Independent bookstores are donating to food banks and organizations that help with food insecurity.

They are not the same.

This looks like a concentration camp.
Under Trump, the draconian future of homelessness policy is coming into focus: mass internment. Utah is building a 16-acre site to detain up to 1,300 homeless people inside locked "accountability centers." This is profoundly alarming.

I need to say this. The fascist PRETEND they don't know who receives SNAP in the U.S. They actually do know and they lie because they need to paint an alternate reality of who is "benefiting"

Food insecurity is ALWAYS a political choice. Famine is ALWAYS manmade. People go hungry because of other people’s decisions. We have more than enough food for everyone, and enormous amounts of it are wasted—literally thrown in the garbage—on purpose.

One curious thing on this site about speaking out against the encroachment of LLMs is that inevitably you get accused of being anti-tech. I don’t hate technology. I’ve used machine learning in my own code before. But I also recognize that oligarchs are so hellbent on pushing this tech for a reason.

Bari Weiss won the culture war, and we are all worse off for it. Well, not all of us. Her friends and family are doing great!
So Suzy Weiss, the sister of new CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss, was on CBS Mornings today to talk about The Free Press story on lab-grown diamonds.

"The shamelessness of getting her sister on set by week two is just, wow," one senior CBS News staffer told me.

also, having a billion dollars tends to make you lose your mind
The whole point of democracy is so one person's derangement does not become everybody's problem. It's social hygiene. The fact the richest men in the West are a mix of grotty twelve year olds and deranged apocalypse fanatics is a problem, and we should be honest about it.
