People also forget that their own status isn’t permanent. You can become disabled, temporarily or permanently. Almost everyone will to some degree as we age. You can become poor even if you aren’t today.

Blight of American culture to police who “should” have access to social services, when the right answer is everyone. Setting a threshold on who is disabled enough, poor enough, working hard enough, sick enough, healthy enough, etc. results in moving goalposts that are used to deny people services.
