UPDATE: In an uncharacteristically fiery press conference on Wednesday afternoon, Governor Kathy Hochul defended congestion pricing. New York's commuters, she said, will not be "the roadkill on President Trump's revenge tour against New York."

T-minus 6 days until the launch of congestion pricing & I still couldn't tell you if it'll actually happen. Several potential judicial obstructions remain unsettled.

In the meantime, read my review of the year congestion pricing *almost* happened, again, 2024: nyc.streetsblog.org/2024/12/30/2...

$19 million initial cost for attempting to implement Intro 606 (licensing e-bikes). Legislation that has been shown to be ineffective in curbing pedestrian injuries in every city it’s been passed in, and has been repealed. Vickie Paladino and Robert Holden and want to throw away $19 million.

At the council meeting public hearing for Intro 606, I watched one of the guards walk up to one of the disruptive bike banners, shake his hand and say “glad to see a friendly face”. Curious that after being asked to remove disruptive people, nobody was removed.

How people can be anti-abortion and pro-death penalty is much easier to explain if you realize it’s not about the value of human life. It’s about whether the state can control the lives of undesirables (women, minorities, the poor) from the womb to the grave).

Growing rural-urban divide exists only among white Americans | Cornell Chronicle
Researchers have found that when it comes to politics, Black and Latino residents of rural America differ far less, if at all, from their urban counterparts than do non-Hispanic white residents.
