a) US & angloamerican hegemony & implications to life everywhere
b) because of that & colonialism & imperialism, english is the language of the world's communication - by default angloamerican, western & europe centered

hard to think of a better example of "you may not believe in class war, but billionaires know they're in one" than this
This is bleak: Jes Staley, currently CEO of Barclays, reassuring Epstein that popular revolt against financial elites is unlikely because capitalism and pop culture have defanged social movements, leaving people more invested in consumption than justice.

The CHILDREN?

"There was very much a class aspect to this.

A lot of the YOUNG GIRLS came from broken homes and poor backgrounds.

Some of them had been abused in their own families.

CHILDREN WERE VIEWED, BASICALLY, AS OBJECTS … THEY WERE VIEWED AS DISPOSABLE CHILDREN."

AUCTIONABLE CHILDREN!!
Young girls "were viewed as disposable people." Epstein files reveal not just crimes, but how elite society actually works
The women "were viewed as disposable people." The files reveal not just crimes, but how elite society actually works.

Saving this to remember to check out. Do not expect much, but interested in this as there is certain paradigm & hegemony in these discourses & research, so looking forward if there is exception & challenges to current ones. But not having my hopes high though.
Coming soon!

'Displaced Families, Dispersed Memories' investigates the #memory work and #mnemonic practices of families dispersed by war, #conflict, repression, occupation, and forced #migration.

The book will be published in #openaccess in February 2026.

Ja toisaalla tuhotaan & karkoitetaan kansaa ja tekijöitä otetaan lauleluihin mukaan & propagoimaan asiaansa.

Yle syöttää tahdilla markkinointikamaansa. Ehkä pari kriittistä/asiaa huomioivaa tekstiä saattaa tulla, mutta muuten mennään "business as usual" (& hallituksen valitsemalla) -linjalla.

I regularly talk in panel discussions on AI and its social repercussions, and exactly this is the thing I constantly need to remind people of. Your nice and shiny AI or social media platform runs on the invisible labor of poor data workers. But it’s a subject Westerners prefer to ignore.

Yeah, definitely a Russian spy, who was working with China and North Korea, and killed and ate babies with Kim Jong Un. I mean, didn't y'all know that the capitalist ruling classes in western liberal democracies AREN'T capable of rape and pedophilia unless they're "forced" to do it by Russian spies?
Look, I know Epstein was a Zionist who hung out with pro-Israel fanatics and let a senior Israeli spy live with him for weeks at a time and was best friends with Israel's lawyer and called you all "goyim", but this somehow proves he was a Russian spy, okay?

Just a thought from the notion that white collar workers happily sided and did the work (& still do) of ruling class & elites & their interest of capital accumulation, but, well, nowadays one could say that blue collar workers might do the work for the billionaires project aswell 🧐🤔
Just a thought.
I think it's best for everyone to understand that the unified class project of billionaires right now is to do to white collar workers what globalization and neoliberalism did to blue collar workers.

Neocolonialism in subtle forms also:
"For both companies the mechanism of impact is the same: to convert technical capacity into a policy package, and normalise a governance regime that privileges commercial extraction and private investment over locally governed, commons-based alternatives."
How have Israeli companies transformed water into an instrument of settler rule & profit?

A lot of people cannot just start a paid newsletter or become freelancers to sustain their careers. The sports, metro, and international desks did work that requires *team* resources, like legal checks, documents, access to archives, and long-term beat experience.

I think because capitalism is so set up to reward crooks and corrupts, it's unlikely for those not corrupt to hoard billions
You can look at the Epstein files and conclude that only bad people have billions of dollars, but I think it’s also possible that having billions of dollars cauterizes your humanity
