I think it’s worth noting this piece generated the most unsubscribes I’ve seen in a while, and the newsletter version had the lowest open rate in many months. These horrors persist in part because too many people go to great pains to avoid them.

This story should not have been published. They hint at an accusation (Mamdani said he is black to get into a fancy college) they can't back up. That this was published tells me that Mamdani's most important opponent may not be Cuomo or Adams but a paper whose NEWS section will run stuff like this.

I’m biracial (US dad, Ethiopian mom US born) and moved to Kenya at 4, had lots of Kenyan Indian friends, families there generations. When I moved to the states I didn’t know I was Black or have any idea of the American binary concept of race until someone called me the n word.

My view is that we have a right-wing coalition on campus working with the federal government to try and wrest control of the university and weaken their political enemies. The NYT has repeatedly intervened on behalf of this coalition
