It was great to see this new bench go in on Galtymore Road outside the shops.
Benches give you a chance to sit and chat with the people you meet. And for many people, it's a lot easier to walk to the shops, or to a park, when they know they'll get to take a break.

Lansdowne Valley park is nice, but small, and the closed loop is not great for safety.
The pitch and putt has been closed for years.
Put them together and you get a bigger park connecting Walkinstown to Inchicore.
I met the Active Travel team in 2025, and got them to bring this project forward.

The public consultation last year threw up some interesting ideas, but it's pretty clear that people want a lido here. My colleague @janetphorner.bsky.social will be working to make that happen, but also to make sure the space is used while that project is being developed.
