You might well need something sweet and sustaining for the weekend: Baklava is, therefore, #RecipeOfTheDay! www.nigella.com/recipes/bakl...
Baklava
This is so temple-achingly sweet that one small marked-out diamond, or maybe two, is enough. But even so, I love its perfumed sugariness — as much as I love the tender, rose-shot green of its equally ...

to be clear, police actively target Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children. The passive voice framing of “disproportionate” impacts on Blak children implies happenstance. Kids in wealthy white areas shoplift, and steal cars, and smoke pot and damage property. They are not policed.

The only people the IDF enjoys murdering more than children are journalists.
Israel killed three Palestinian journalists in Gaza on Wednesday, including a freelance cameraman who contributed to CBS News. The network's president, Tom Cibrowski, let staff know at a meeting this morning, noting that Abdul Raouf Shaat had just been married. www.washingtonpost.com/world/2026/0...

Gaza is facing one of the worst economic collapses ever documented – 90 per cent displaced, 70 years of development wiped out, and famine conditions spreading. #Gaza #Palestine #HumanRights #MiddleEast #UNCTAD #InternationalLaw #GazaEconomy
Best of 2025 - Gaza’s economy has collapsed beyond recognition
Gaza’s economy, society and basic infrastructure have been almost entirely wiped out. With 90 per cent of people displaced, food systems destroyed and schools and hospitals in ruins, reconstruction is becoming harder by the day.

I'm writing about the Palestine Action hunger strikers at the moment, any of whom could die at any moment, and the astonishing media and government silence surrounding them. The Establishment seems to have become even crueller than when Thatcher was PM.

Everyone has their favourite writers and commentators on particular topics. And when it comes to Australian politics, mine are very easy to nominate; Amy Remeikis, Dave Milner and Ronni Salt. If you're not familiar with their work, do yourself a favour, they're all outstanding.

Shame on everyone who didn’t even wait a day to use an abhorrent, devastating terrorist attack to create fear and division - exactly what terrorists want. Anyone using a national tragedy for political point scoring should be ashamed of themselves! From all ends of the political spectrum.
