This is going to be such an exciting book about people passionately committed to a livable future and the machinations and heroics that got us from the Green New Deal to the Inflation Reduction Act.
It's official: I'm writing a book. Should be out early fall 2026. Thrilled to be working with MIT Press.

What an astonishingly dishonest piece of propaganda for the fossil fuel industry, including its citing of Obama's extremely outdated energy policies and its misrepresentation of Norwegian public opinion.
“The mind-set shift needed here is to acknowledge that while climate change is real and harmful, the utility of fossil fuels is not something the oil and gas industry tricked the public into,” Matthew Yglesias writes.
Opinion | Obama Supported It. The Left in Canada and Norway Do. Why Don’t Democrats?
Liberals should reconcile with America’s oil and gas industry.

We're in a climate emergency. But what does real climate emergency leadership look like?

The Climate Emergency Unit developed the 6 Markers of Climate Emergency to assess whether governments & institutions are acting at true emergency speed & scale.

I see this so often that I think it might qualify as a law:

The time people take to notice demographic trends is equal to the time required for the results to materialise.

In other words, however obvious the maths might be, we cannot or will not see it coming.
Trump thinks immigrants will destroy Europe. The truth is the opposite.
This column is about the long arc of population change, the hybridity of European cultures, and the widely-misinterpreted results of demographic momentum.
Big issues we need to understand.

Want to see billionaire brainwashing in action?

Seven out of ten Brits are big fans of renewable energy and want to see lots more of it.

But they think the majority of people DON’T support it.

That disconnect isn’t an accident. 🧵

Trump is a dying husk shambling through his presidency.

But he makes an ideal puppet for the wealthy because of his susceptibility to flattery and bribery, his instinct to crush innocent people, his laziness, and lack of loyalty to anything or anyone.

People keep wondering why they're going after Venezuela. It's because they want to do regime change and control its oil, then use a big tract of land there to keep a tax free "network state" that looks like Dubai but operates like Rhodesia. They are saying this out loud! Believe them!

Hi hello the Venezuela stuff is entirely about oil, both in Venezuela and in Guyana (where Venezuela is laying claim to the oil in what is now Exxon’s largest oilfield, which Chevron has also bought into). It is the bidding of US oil majors and it’s not remotely subtle.
