Times are tough, and some of my paid subscribers have had to cancel lately due to financial hardships. I get it, and I wish for better times for us all. Unfortunately, paid subscriptions are now dipping into unsustainable territory. I am hoping to get eight new paid subscribers before the new year.

Second Story Books & Cafe held a Book Journal set up event (it was free!) and a lot of the community showed up~ It was a little overwhelming 🫢 but I loved getting to talk to others about our planners and we ended up sharing journaling supplies with each other. Overall a super wholesome time 💖

"Starbucks baristas are struggling to make ends meet. Many rely on SNAP and Medicaid because they don't receive enough hours to pay their bills or access benefits... [T]he average barista receives just 19 hours of work per week, leaving them one hour short of the cutoff to receive company benefits."
"It’s a pretty bleak state of affairs... if, even at the 'best' job available, you can’t get stable hours & your bosses can crush you when you dare ask for better."

A bargaining delegate for @sbworkersunited.org, explains why almost 4K baristas are on strike.
Striking Barista on Starbucks' Endgame: “They Don’t Want Working People to Have a Voice"
Silvia Baldwin, a bargaining delegate for Starbucks Workers United, explains why more than 3,800 baristas are on strike against “the biggest labor law violator in modern history.”

You feel like it’s getting better and you’re getting used to the coexisting feelings of a quiet blanket of grief interwoven with acceptance and then something small can upend things leaving you all of a sudden crying and wondering why you’re back in this state of louder grief.

There’s a quote I’ve seen around that says something along the lines of how you’re a museum of everyone you have ever loved and it’s something I’ve been thinking about lately.

I worked on answering emails and grading assignments today at two different local coffee shops and at the end of the day (not for the first time) I find myself so grateful for the abundance of local coffee shops in our area.

It’s been so cool to see how doodling regularly has led to me getting better and better at it (gee- who would have thought 😅). I’m so excited about a project I’m currently working on.

Running on very little sleep, full of anxiety, and feeling like a ball of stress. Forgot my wallet at work, missed my turn twice when I was driving home 😵‍💫, and might have jumped the gun on something that should have been handled more delicately 😔

Helped out with RDC’s cook 4 a crowd today- I can’t always make it to every one of these because of distance, work, or bandwidth but it’s important to be able to discern where one can stretch oneself without breaking for community.

I am mildly impressed with myself on how well I’m juggling everything going on in life right now without currently being on my meds but also… I really need to get back on track with those 😅

There's no inconsistency between the president seeking to eliminate DEI and nominating white men who have not demonstrated any experience in running cabinet departments. It's literally how racism has worked in this country for centuries.
