But if we want to be precise about language, what DOGE is doing here is promoting "government efficiency" only in the same sense that a guillotine is an "efficient" tool for dealing with a headache.
If the mission of the so-called "Department of Government Efficiency" is to destroy the functional capacity of the federal government such that, if the Dems were ever to regain the White House, they won’t be able to get anything done, then this approach to staffing OPM perhaps makes sense.
At least one of them is old enough to drink in a bar.🍼

The reason “humanities types” (I include social scientists here) believe AI is an existential threat is because it’s jeopardizing our societal ability to think, analyze & write, & <gestures at everything> this is an existential threat to democracy & society. It’s not just about our teaching or jobs.
